Default cinnie questoin?

Thought I would ask does the fact that they carry yellow have an impact on a cinnies temperament would a pure cinnie still be lively or less lively?

I wasn't aware that a hamsters color determines its disposition, I always thought that was a random thing that occurred?

Its both, you cant judge a hamsters temperment on its colour because its all dependant upon each hamsters personality! Some are crazy some are nice. However Yellow based colours (inc. Torts) do have a reputation for being crazy.

Our current Yellow litter... the female is crazy, the Male is as dopey as any cream male! The babies all have wonderfull temperments!

In answer to your question Matty, meet the hamsters!!!!! If you dont like its temperment, dont get it

I have an insane Cinnie with Yellow and an looney without Yellow, equally i have them with yellow that are lovely and dopey!

Ok:

Bingo: She is a LH Cinnie (Towy). She is our 'attack hamster'. She has severe cage rage in whatever cage she is in (even if it isnt her cage or bedding!!) hoever once out, she is ok! She is fast and not snuggly, in her cage she stands at the bars jumping up and down making her 'tikka tikka tik' noises and scratchnig her sides and rolling in the corners when she is excited. She will eat you through the bars if you get close enough LOL

Fanta: PetShop SH Cinnie i got at Thame, hard to tell, she has always been a very docile quiet girl, seems to prefer being out and cuddled but she has a litter at the moment and she is a bit narked when you go near her a the moment.

Dooley: Out of Bessy (black dom spot) and Dante (yellow). Incredibly snuggly and dopey, Dooley suits him, he looks a bit drunk and confused bless him!

Sprite: Pet Shop SH Cinnie (Essex Hamster) she is easy enough to handle but by no means tame, she doesnt want to be tame!

I would consider Bingo an absolute looney, fast and furious but fine out the cage...

(i also ought to mention that Bingo is old now and still just as bad, she is a baaaaad girly one of our favs! she is FUN!)

The cinny males I have had have generally been pretty good, but the girls are just crazy! Very, very active - fiercely protective of litters and more than averagely smelly when on heat. Very little difference with those that are pure or those with yellow.

you could always just get a cinnie that doesnt carry yellow!

i do find torts/yellow combi colours do tend to be more lively than the others-, that said i have a very laid back smoke pearl boy, but then males do tend to be calmer, the most hyper hamsters i have had have all been tort girls!
