Re: My new babies
They definatly need bigger cages and really if you can't afford to give them the space they need then what happens if one of them needs a vet visit.
Sorry to say this however these things happen, keeping animals is not cheap and cost should be thought about before offering them a home.
Rigbear is gorgeous and I am glad you have separated them. I have my fingers crossed it hasn't come to late.

Re: My new babies
well actually, today when i picked up my little girl "Tina" i saw something perculiar, so now "Tina" is actually a "Tony" he just had very small male parts, but he definately has them. So there will definately be no hamster babies

Re: My new babies
This is tony, who used to be a tina haha, very fuzzy and very small, so his hair is going to be loooong when full grown

Re: My new babies
they're extremely cute.
i hope you can get some species appropriate cages soon. also wheels - when they grow, they will need wheels which are 9-11 inches in diameter so that they can run with a straight back.

Re: My new babies
Hi Hammiegurl. I am so glad your mom got you those beautiful babies. I know it was hard to lose Glimmer. As you've been reading, Syrians need to live alone. Yours have been okay so far only because they are so young. (Whew!! Good that Tina is a Tony!!) This is about the age where I separate the babies and start rehoming them, so it's good that you have separated them. I know that it's a real expense when you get pets but there are ways...the bin cages are probably your best bet. Discuss this with mom and dad and plan to do something within the next month or so. Show them the threads about how to make the cages. Maybe your dad can help? Hope everybody settles in nicely

Re: My new babies
thanks you guys! actually theres one problem, when ted (used to be tina, i didnt like the name tony) and rigbear were together, ted was VERY extremelt skittish. Now that there seperated, when i go in the cage to get ted's food bowl he will creep up to my hand, and then growl, not squeal, a real growl, and then nip at me, is something wrong?

Re: My new babies
He's still adjusting. He's in a new place, his friend is gone and these big creatures are coming into his home. I'D be terrified and try to bite you too! Just give him a couple of weeks to really settle in. Take everything really slow and try to only mess with the cage for feeding and watering for the first week. Talk gently to him when you are near the cage. Then try the tub taming method.
