Re: My new babies
Er... Firstly, at two months old they're old enough to mate and have pups. They're also old enough to become territorial and fight really badly if caged with another animal.
Secondly... HollyHamster is right. Crittertrail is way smaller than is fair to keep syrians in. Syrians need a decent amount of space, and I don't care what pet shops say - crittertrail cages are not a decent amount of space. The smallest one can't even fit a proper syrian sized wheel in it.
Rigbear looks lovely and it'd be a shame to see him hurt or unhappy. Or the father of a ton of pups lol

Re: My new babies
I agree with what the others have said about separating them and getting/making bigger cages... you obviously want the best for them
Also, Rigbear is gorgeous!

Re: My new babies
The cage is really to small and you can get bigger cages for about the same price, and yes they need one each before any babies do a appearance which at that age they might!.

Re: My new babies
Well I cant get any HUGE cages right now for both since my mom was nice enough after glimmers passing to get me some new ones , and my dad just got a job with a small pay, so well have to wait till we have enough money, and there are three cages altogether that I have , so this will have to do for now, and the cage on the far left has nothing but two hamster wheels in it, the tall one is full of food bowls and one hamster hide and water bottles, and the last one has two hides, a food bowl, and some hay or something. My mom really likes the cages, there almost brand new , here ill take dimensions in a bit, but for now this is what I have

Re: My new babies
Even if you cant upgrade the cages right now, please just make sure you at least separate them so they don't fight and/or mate. Think of how much space you'll need if they end up making babies.

Re: My new babies
Sounds like a good temporary fix. I highly recommend getting a couple bin cages as soon as you can. They are large, lightweight, and (best of all!) very inexpensive. You can grab them at places like Walmart for around $10. The mesh and cable ties are also inexpensive. I made a bin cage a while back and there are pictures and instructions in this thread....
My First Bin Cage
I was never a fan of bin cages but I finally decided to make one, using mostly items I already had so it would be inexpensive. I highly recommend doing it. If I can help at all, please don't hesitate to contact me.
You can always hold on to the cages you have now and use them as travel cages. I have an old pink Critter Trail cage that my dwarfie, Roxy, was in before she became mine. (Sadly she has since passed.) But I held onto it even after upgrading her and I use it for vet visits.
Good luck. Your little ones are gorgeous.

Re: My new babies
75x45 cm is considered the absolute smallest for a Syrian hamster. ( don't really know what dimensions you were using).
I am glad you separated them but I would keep a close eye on the female over the next two weeks, just incase.

Re: My new babies
I assume the dimensions were inches, in which case the smallest one is 25cm by 25cm by 30cm... To put that into perspective we could fit eight of them in any one of our dwarf cages without stacking them... I'm not even going to try and figure out how many we could fit not-stacked in our oversized syrian cages, but anyone meeting the basic minimum for a syrian could fit three of the smallest cage in their cage and have quite a bit of space left over, if they had the floor space arranged differently they could put five of them in there and still have space left.
I'm glad the two syrians have been separated though, its much better for them - it sounds like you're really not in a position to have to house and care for a load of pups too so its definetly best its avoided.
