Default Six weeks old - and moving house!

My Martesers are 6 weeks old today and the Smarterones will be 6 weeks tomorrow - and they've hopelessly outgrown their Luxes/Rody with between four/five of them in each.

Today, therefore, is moving day!

First up my as yet un-named Sable Roan girl and Louby's Satin Cream Girl will be sharing this Rex for a week until Blenheim then my girl will live in it on her own:

This is the home of Who Hams Martha (Sable Roan) and Oodie (Satin Cream) until they fall out - then Martha will move into her own Rex:

The boys have a bit more to get used to - a wire cage! This Cambridge is currently home to Creme Egg (Eggy) my REC and Snickers (my BEC). I'm hoping they'll stay together for a few weeks yet as boys tend to last longer without fighting.

Tucked in the corner is Will's Cream Roan Jake's Cambridge - he's sharing it with the satin Cream boy who's off to his new home in a few days:

This is the Teenage Corner:

The two Sable Smarterone boys are sharing the Rody for a couple more days until they both go to their new homes and the Cream Roan, Sable and matty's boy are sharing the Lux until Sunday when Matty's boy will move into his Imac and the other two will go to their new homes.

Finally, for Louby:

they look quite a size now

just a tip i find you can reduce the chance of fighting with chinese if you give them more than one wheel

i know theyll be sepreated at ten weeks anyway but it may be worth considering in the meantime

Thank you for the tip, Matty, but I find one wheel is ok at this age. I prefer them not to run constantly while they are young and supposedly growing so I prefer them to share a wheel. At the moment, having just discovered how wonderful wodent wheels are, the wheels are constatly turning so I may well limit their access to them to a few hours each evening and replace them with tubes and toys overnight anyway - just for a week or two. They are suddenly just sharing a wheel with one other sibling now and I'm well aware how young hamsters can run themselves to exhaustion!

It's a debate we've had many times - I wouldn't limit an adult hamster's wheel time but I think, sometimes, it's best to with the young ones who get very carried away with running. As long as they have plenty to do in the cage and come out regularly I don't think it hurts them for a couple of weeks. I'm aware some people don't agree but we all make up our own minds what we do, as always

Glad you like her - she's up to 120g tonight

Matty's boy's up to 141g

That's without doing any wheel limiting but just having them share.
