Hm, getting a little worried about him now - hopefully it's just because he's taking some time to get settled in to his new Alexander home .. but we've hardly seen him the last two or three nights - he'll poke his head out of his burrow home if you pester him for long enough (at around midnight when we're going to bed) but he goes straight back in after taking a treat from you not to be seen again..

He's eating and drinking, but must be doing that in the dead of night when it's completely dark & silent in the house.

Amy's little brother is visiting and he has a way with animals, so .. we've now had JF out and playing on us and he's even been allowed to roam free (well, supervised) on the floor..

He enjoyed being on me .. not so much Amy - she jumped and he peed on her Poor JF!

Anyway.. one pic of him on me, one pic when we were trying to figure out for sure if he's a he or a she.

LOL. All of you are going to be just fine. The picture of J. F. Sebastian and you tells me so. The expression on your face looking down at your hammy speaks loads. I am glad your OH's brother was able to help out. Once J. F. realizes that your hand means outside time, he'll tame much faster. My shyest hammies used to come running, trying to crawl up the sides of the tanks when I walked in, because they knew I was going to let them out in their run-about-balls, or on the bed. As for dropping him, I think it's like a part of the learning process for most of us that we learn just how quickly they can move after one darts out of our hands and has a fall. With any hammy I have who is not really tamed yet, I make sure I'm holding him/her over my bed, and not too high up off the bed either. Once a hammy is really tame, (I'm talking Syrians here, the dwarf hammies tend to stay speedy for most of their lives), they usually don't dart like that unless something really frightens them (like a dog barking). He's a cutie.

He's been much speedier this morning, but that's probably because my OH's brother woke him up and we cleaned his cage while he roamed .. and sat on me:
