Did'nt know where to post this so here goes. If I put a black eyed cream male with a black female, what colours will the babies be? Mum and dad are both short haired. Does anybody know?

Ta da! http://www.hamstercentral.com/forum/vie ... php?t=3270
This should answer your question, basically they would all be golden and short haired unless mum and dad both carried long haired or other common reccessives. Did you get them from a breeder or a pet shop? Do you have a full genetic history for them both?
EDIT: Ooops said they would all be long haired originally when I meant short haired

They will all be Golden - and all shorthaired unless both parents carry LH. Do you know their genetic history ie have pedigrees for them?

black and cream are incompatible colours, so the babies revert to the wild colour, which is golden. this happens whenever incompatable colours are put together.

Oh bummer, it's obviously I'm inexperienced at breeding hamsters, I was hoping for some black babies!! I don't know the full genetics of both of them, the dad (black eye cream) is a rescue. I bred the mum myself her mum and dad were both black banded. Oh well goldens aren't so bad I had them when I was little and they were lovely
