Congratulations Gus, she is a little smasher. Sounds like everyone had a good time yesterday, wish I could have been there

I knew you'd take a pup Gus, just thought I'd give u a little encouragement! She's a beautiful little girl, and it's really nice that we've got sisters

I thought I'd already posted but don't seem to have done so.... Wes' is lovely and I'm not surprised you were tempted!

Black is a truly gorgeous colour!

Congratulations to Al on her lovely!

When my beloved makes comments about the amount of animals we have I point out to him that Tinkerbell was completely *his* idea! Is it sad that I'm planning out our house (lots to do this year in the house!) with the hamsters/animals in mind?!

"If I buy that unit from Ikea, and we move back into our old room, the hamsters and meeces could go in there.... and there'd be more room then should I decide to get another..."

There is no hope!

Sounds perfectly normal to me Hanlou - but then I am not sure I should be taken as anyone's idea of normal

You're right, there may be no hope for many of us!

Perfectly normal to me also :P

I'm now looking at those gorgeous wooden habitats from Germany and trying to work out how many I could "get away with" in my living room

Gus you are in good company

Ha, Hanlou it is totally normal (well if we can be classed as normal?). We bought units that can fit 9 gabber rex cages on and mum is desperate for another one that will take another 5 cages. That will take us up to room for 14 (bearing in mind we only have 4 at the moment)

We've also been trying every arrangements of furniture conceivable to man, just to see where we can put more cages!

I have now totally fallen in love with blacks, and need Wes - you better lock her up :P Guys, you need to tie me up if there are any for sale at Thame or other shows!

So we're blaming you, right?

Feel free to encourage more often, as we're really enjoying having Wes with us - and, just to conform to the stereotype, we've already sat down with the Ikea catalogue and drafted our shelving requirements!

Wes lives to a totally different timetable to the rest of our hammies, who've been busy all evening, so I've had to wait up for some shots - but I think they show, again, just how dark this little hamster is!

So, Wes thought she might be able to help with Al's management diploma (warming up for my MBA, I hope - I got the books this morning, which I think I can fashion into a suitable playground!)

I think, long-term, Wes will be our foot-up to the next level of hamster-ownership - we've got a new diet, a new regime, and are definitely talking of regular show-going; possibly... just possibly... Wes might like to be a mum one day.

A lot more research to be done before then! And a lot more treats and ball-time along the way

Aww reading your post above Gus I think I need to change my forum name to Mystic Meg!
It is amazing how much fun and joy you get out of these lovely animals, both as pets and as a hobby.
Be prepared for lots more info and encouragement, we can all learn together

Will do!

We loved your beautiful goldens, which is what kick-started the whole breeding discussion.

We'll see how we get on, mind. It's not a decision I've ever made before, so I'm not sure how we'll make it
