'Lucy' - Boarding

Introducing my new boarder, Lucy! I've let him settle in for now. I know what you are all probably thinking...."Lucy? Him? What? " I had a feeling when I saw not so little Lucy that she was in fact a he, so I checked when I got home and I was right
Lucy is staying with me for 5 days while his owners are away. I told them via text that they had a boy, but they are keeping it a secret from their daughter.
So, Lucy is a golden banded male Syrian hamster, and quite chubby. Honestly he is the biggest hamster I have met. His owner said he may need to go on a diet. At the moment he is living in a "Pink Palace Housing Unit by Rotastak". His owner understands this is small and is hoping to get him a bigger one soon
I originally gave his owner advice on taming him because he was a biter, and with work he is now a little sweety and is having a holiday with me

I have noticed he has difficulties going through the tube, he is too big for it.

Yes he is, he's a really sweet little thing! As usual, they were told that was the best cage to get for a Syrian and didn't know where else to get a cage. I've advised them on cage size and said about bin cages, so I'm sure he will get a lovely new cage soon...perhaps with less pink?

His owners don't want to tell their daughter because she only wanted a girl (she's 5), so I'm afraid he may have to stay as Lucy

I've nicknamed him Gus, after the mouse of Cinderella.

i think he should be called mr lucy

i had a hammie that had been dumpedat my vets a few years back. they called me and asked if i would have him (im known as animal crazy lol) and they had called 'him' matilda. on inspection i found him very much a boy and changed his name to mr tilda lol x
