Default ♥ A new hammie

Hey guys, sorry about my lack of posts have been really busy.
Well yesterday was a very crazy day. My husband, his mate and I went fishing from around 5am to 4pm, had something to eat, went into some fishing shops on the way home, went into halfords and then finally went to collect my little friend.
Throughout the entire day, with a large lack of signal, I was attempting to contact someone who had advertised 'free syrian hamsters, good homes only'. My OH had found the advert and we both contacted the seller because he knows how much I love hammies His exact words were 'They get better care than me!!' in a joking way which made my grandparents laugh ^_^

Anywho I went into the womans house and saw them all. I didn't realise they were going to be so tiny. I asked if they had a female but they checked and weren't too sure so I decided on a sweet little one who sat in my hand while arranging travel. I don't mind if it's a girl or a boy because he/she is beautiful.

She/he is 4 weeks old and very tiny. When I first got Harley from P@H he was much older and bigger so I have no idea on the specific care this young one needs. I have placed her in the savic cambridge with all shelves removed for now as I thought that falling from those heights could have been a problem. She has bedding, a wheel, a house, water bottle, toys, bedding from her old cage and other things in hope she settles and feels comfortable.

Anywho I am not entirely sure on what this little one can eat. Im guessing at this age they can eat solid hammie food as she was pouching a little yesterday but is their any specifics?
Im feeding her what Harley has and it has a good amount of protein which I know young hammies need to help growth and development - I read that on this forum somewhere. She appears to have eaten the majority this morning so will check her poo's and hope that she doesn't have a tummy upset.

Im still working on her colour but she is, in my belief, a cinnamon. Her main colour covers her entire body but she had white underneath but im still not sure whether she may be true Agouti.

I will post pictures of her soon as Im going to get him/her out tonight to attempt to check her gender and to get her used to her surroundings.

Im so happy!! I love my Harley, I love my little one ♥

Aww, Ruby was about 4 weeks when I got her! She was about the size of a small dwarf
They can eat normal food and I also gave her things like baby food and chicken to help her grow big and healthy! Just remember to introduce new foods slowly and only give about a thumbnail sized piece.
Ruby was very jumpy so be careful when you take her out and hold her in the bath or somewhere she can't escape. Oh and I wouldn't give her a wheel just now because she may become addicted to it and it can stunt their growth.
Your ham sounds lovely, cant wait for pics

Gosh what a young un, congrats
He/she will be fully independant though and should be fine on solid hamster food. I'm sure soft foods and extra protein will be very much appreciated though.

P.S: Just realised you are in Weymouth, I love it there! Such a pretty place x

Congratulations Kristin on your new arrival. He/she shounds adorable. I`ve become addicted to chinese hamsters since adopting Prinny so I can see my numbers becoming two or even three in the not so distant future!

Since she`s so small right now, I would recommend the Burgess Supahamster Harvest (although Harry Hamster is fine for larger syrians) it has bigger extruded biscuits! I tend to feed both to Boris and the Harvest only to my chinese and add in other bits to both like Tesco organic jumbo oats and Kallo organic wholegrain puffed rice and Buckwheat, all available from Tesco.

I am planning to move both of them onto the Burgress Supahamster Harvest after your review, which was fantastic by the way, so will get a bag within the next week and slowly move them onto it.
We picked him/her up just now, who is now known as Munchkin, and we watched as he/she sat around and walked from hand to hand. Its great little Munchkin is beginning to get used to us.
We got Harley out on the bed after putting little one away and after washing our hands and he was so funny. Sat happily between my arm grooming himself ^_^

Here is a picture I took of Munchkin. The name came out of no where so its kind of stuck
