Thank you everyone
Basia, it's a nice thought to think he's a little fighter/surviror
Christine Yule, thanks for explaining that I wasn't sure either, I was just told he was a dove :P
Holly..yep, it is the weekend after next, the 21st I think..sorry We'll see you there then Are you four syrians going in the pet category? Ahhh..tough competition eh :P It'll be the third show I've been to, but I've never entered before..even if it is only pets I'm still nervous :P

The really nice thing about pets is that it's all pretty relaxed and, as well as the outright winner and second, there are also several "highly commended" certificates as well. At Lymm Custard got a highly commended, Treacle and Mocha didn't win anything - though Treacle did win the racing, to my amazement! The racing is fun - will Charlie be entering that as well?
I'm entering our Winter White's in the main show so I can't actually enter any hamsters in pets or racing - my son and nephew will be entering our hamsters.

I'm not sure whether Charlie is going to be entering racing..he will probably fall asleep but it does seem like fun..dad says he doesn't like the idea though..so I'm not sure. Charlie is pretty tame but doesn't like being picked up unless he's had a sniff of you first, but hopefully he will do okay
What do you look like so I can point you out :P
I've upload all the photos I took of Charlie, just need to sort them out a bit now

We will see you at Holmfirth as it is our local show and we are helping out! It is actually in Brockholes, which is very near to Holmfirth.
Charlie is gorgeous! You can enter him in both pets and racing, and even if he doesn't get anything it is still very enjoyable!

I've never seen anything like him in a pet shop either I have never seen many "grey" hamsters (I know that's not the proper name for them, but to a random person they look grey) in pet shops. My previous syrian, Jelly, was a mink, and she started off grey too :P
