Hi Serendipity7000! Thanks for the reassurance! We are going to the vet back tomorrow so I will definitely ask about pyometra! Thanks for suggesting this! We are still on baytril. The tramadol almost knocked her out though. She was really sedated so the vet asked us to stop it and only give it if she looks she is in pain. She is on critical care formula and I give this every couple of hours. She still looks very poorly, but started eating a little bit of food. We will see what the vet says tomorrow. Her stool are still soft and she finds it difficult to clean herself so I am trying to clean her with wet tissue. It’s difficult to dry her well so I used a little bit of cornflour today to absorb the moisture. I hope I did the right thing. Trying to clean her is the most challenging thing for me as I don’t want to stress her too much and I don’t want to make her wet really, but she needs cleaning every time I grab her poor thing. Thanks for all your support and advice honestly. Bob is my first pet and I’ve never had to deal with an ill animal before so it’s nice to be able to talk about it.

I’m sure she knows you’re doing your best to help. Her reaction to the Metacam and Tramadol makes me think everything is seen as toxic in her system when it’s overloaded with infection. I do hope the baytril starts to have effect - it can take over a week.

When you say cleaning, do you mean her back end? After diarrhoea. Otherwise it isn’t really necessary to clean their fur, even if she’s not grooming - they’re quite clean little things. Maybe not every day anyway. If I’ve had to do that on occasion I just use a micro fibre cloth wrung out so it’s almost dry and just gently hold in that for a light wipe - so they don’t get wet. It’s a balance - getting wet won’t be good for her with an infection. If it’s just her back end after diarrhoea then yes it probably does need doing but try not to get her wet. Maybe have her walk into a tube to lift her out?

Hi! Yes just her back end really. She is quite tame so I can hold her and clean her, but she gets so dirty every time. Just wiping is not enough most of the time so I have to really make the area wet but I make sure i leave it as dry as I can. Her fur looks clean and healthy in general. We went to the vet today and unfortunately things donít look good for Bob ☹️ She was again severely dehydrated so she had an injection under the skin again. Her breathing is getting worse. We changed the antibiotic to Karidox and we started bisolvon to break down the mucus in the lungs. We are going back to the vet on Tuesday.

Just use the microfibre cloth for drying her back end then! They're nice and soft.

So sorry to hear she's not doing well. I hope things turn around soon.

Is she getting dehydrated because of the diarrhoea or not taking in enough fluid?
Is she able to reach her water bottle or bowl easily?

Hi! Unfortunately little Bob didn’t make it. She passed during the night. I hope she is in a better place now. Poor little thing suffered a lot during this week.

Ria P to answer your question, Bob was not eating or drinking on her own during this week. The only food she was getting was the critical care and I had to syringe the water too. I would give as much as I can so every couple of hours really but this was not enough. So the solution would be to give subcutaneous injections daily at the vets to increase her fluids as the amount she could take orally was not enough. And this was our plan really.

I am so so sorry to hear this. You have done everything you possibly could for your little girl but sometimes they leave us far too soon. I've recently experienced this myself so understand how devastating it is.
She is at peace now and her happy memories will live on.

I am also so sorry. She did sound like she was struggling and at least her passing was fairly quick and without major trauma - and at home with you. Play well over the Rainbow Bridge little Bob. Free from pain and suffering now.

Kito - so sorry for your loss.

Thank you both for your kind words ❤️ It really helps and it’s much appreciated. I hope Bob has found some rest now.
