I am having to do an unplanned change of my dwarf hamster Komorebi's enclosure and was planning on simply remaking the one I have with more structural reinforcement, but someone in another hamster group I'm part of raised a question that peaked my interest.
They asked if anyone had used a cold frame greenhouse as the base of an enclosure before. The general idea was to take one, add a bottom if it didn't already have one, and replace the polycarbonate in the lid with mesh. Unfortunately it didn't get much attention.
I have found someone selling
this cold frame for a great price and am strongly considering it. The only thing stopping me is the polycarbonate used is twin wall/corrugated. Does anyone know if this is safe for hamsters? I worry the individual walls may be thin enough to be easily chewed even though Komorebi is uninterested in chewing things that aren't wood or edible.
