Re: Rabbit Cage Advice!
Actually it was the bigger one our friends had. The other one isn’t really big enough and not much better than the hutch. By having it in the living room the rabbit will get to know you as well.

Re: Rabbit Cage Advice!
We managed to get a large run and it’s currently in the lounge now. It’s like that dog pen one but 60cm high, but short but the lady gave us a mesh covering that should stop her jumping over.
I think also I found a jigsaw floor, but I also have found people on Facebook sometimes giving old rugs away so I’m just on the look out for that currently. Thank you all for your help ☺️

Re: Rabbit Cage Advice!
I read something about this, I'll have to edit when I have found the source but a rabbit needs to have 24/7 access to a space that's 10ft X 8ft in accordance to the animal welfare act.

Re: Rabbit Cage Advice!
Currently she has the entire bathroom, but she can’t live in there. I actually got her this pen:
VivaPet Outdoor Octagon Rabbit Run Cage Pen with Sun Protection Net Cover, 55-inch, Assorted Color, Black or Silver https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0064NOR...Q8WKS1RZPDN61C
Which I guess is small by what’s recommended there but it takes up the entire living room. Not only that it’s useless because she just flicks it up with her mouth and runs under it so she’s back in the bathroom 😔
I actually don’t think they should sell rabbits as pets, like she’s got the pen, full reign of our bathroom plus sometimes run of the hall and it’s still not enough. Yet some people use those 4ft by 1ft cage so I couldn’t ever give her up knowing someone else might put her in a tiny cage!
They’re certainly not low maintenance, my hamster is an absolute dream to care for ❤️ I love the rabbit and she’s so sweet she licks everything and even if they’re not meant to she’s adopted a teddy she sleeps with, I just wish we had a big home for her rather than this tiny flat.
Not only this but when neutered they say you must get a second rabbit but this is a lot already. I’ve never felt so conflicted about an animal 😢

Re: Rabbit Cage Advice!
I have 6 rabbits. All neutered. They live in 3 pairs. I agree that they are pretty hard work. I love my lot but wont be getting any more once my oldies go.

Re: Rabbit Cage Advice!
I’ve actually started a new thread as I might be putting her up for adoption. I got her as my partner said he had loads of experiences with rabbits as a kid but I think he forgets that as a kid your mum does most the caring for them.
She’s absolutely lovely one of the best most tame rabbits I’ve come across but she’s still a rabbit. She keeps stomping the room she’s in for attention and I don’t blame her as she must get bored, we bought a pen but she just tossed it to one side and got out. Today we tried blocking off things using the pen panels but even though they stayed fixed she wouldn’t stop shaking them. When we let her roam she’s straight to chewing.
I’m really upset because I think if she was neutered it would make things easier, at first she got on like a dream with the cat now she attacks her. I know that cat hasn’t done anything to her for sure so it’s not retaliation. The pet store did say she didn’t get on in a pair but I’m 90% sure this would fix if she was neutered.
Main issue I find is space and for some reason hamster things has go cheap online but rabbit stuff costs an arm and a leg. We’ve decided a few things, we’ll try her in a cage in our bedroom which I am against but have her in the spare room at night maybe and cage in the day so she has company. Just until she’s neutered. I’ve also put her on preloved now and unless the PERFECT owner comes along we’ll keep trying with her.
I never want to give up an animal and even as we’re going now I know she’s got a better life than some rabbits who live in a cage permanently. It’s just upsetting because I’m the future if she is neutered we’d probably have to get another rabbit for her company and we’ve already got a hamster cat rabbit and dove in this tiny two bedroom flat. I thought she’d be similar care as the hamster but they’re worlds apart!

Re: Rabbit Cage Advice!
Oh my what a beauty. Yes world apart. Rabbits need to run jump chew dig. My indoor pairs have cardboard boxes which they love to destroy (esp the does) and I often forage willow for them to chomp on.
I get bales of farm hay and also buy sweet green hay from natures own for their hay racks, farm hay goes into their 32 litre underbed storage boxes.
Rabbits have a particular sensitivity and gentleness which I find almost magical. I have loved having mine despite the high input needed.
Best of luck finding her a home. A local rescue may be able to help you. Take a look on the rabbits united forum for info. Its a great forum.

Re: Rabbit Cage Advice!
Oh they’re absolutely lovely! They look so happy and free too ❤️
I do love mine and like you say they have a different nature to them. Mine when I stroke her and she sort of melts into the floor and he little eyes close she loves cuddles. I see her and I absolutely melt and I think OMG I can’t ever give her up. Then I walk away and I just want her to have a truly happy life and I just don’t know if we can supply that.
It has got easier now the routine but still it isn’t right. As I mentioned I’ve been looking for a cage just for daytime until she’s neutered or someone comes along or whatever happens, I messaged someone on Facebook what’s the lowest they’d let their cage go for. And he randomly replied it’s with a rabbit!
He started sending pictures of this little lion head rabbit and I was so angry because there’s no protection I thought I need to go there and get it. But I didn’t I just told him to use adoption or preloved as Facebook has no protection for the animal. It’s was a nice reminder that we are doing okay with what we’ve got ours isn’t trapped in a cage like some, it’s just hard to let her go since you can never truly know the person and I love her so much now.
No one has messaged yet anyway so we’ll see. I’ll be thorough in questions, I think my ideas will change if I see someone with the perfect set up message because I do just want a good life for her more than anything.

That's exactly what happened with me and foster hamster Joe. I wanted to keep him but advertised him just in case someone messaged who could offer him more than i can. And then this lovely family came along who wanted to give a hamster a happy life making me happy as well.
Try and see yourself as her foster mum. You give her all you can until someone comes along who can give her even more.
