Now its mainly sarcastic though The nickname originated from the fact that when we used to have a dog she would chase him around for no reason. Like she would sit in the kitchen out of site and wait for him and case out of the kitchen also the fact that she hates all other animals. Like if she see another cat out side she will make this really load noise that i can even hear upstairs. She also can be very destructive by tearing up paper and cardboard.

Oh, ok; just wondering. I understand that she had a hard beginning and, as a result, may not have always shown signs of being the most friendly of cats and is even having troubles with that to this day. However, since you are trying to give her a fresh start and help her heal from past wounds and broken trust with others, maybe you should consider refraining from using that nickname in the future. Of course, I definitely understand and respect that it is entirely up to your discretion on what you call your pet, but I personally can't help feeling that making this change will greatly benefit the both of you. I only say this to you because I truly care about you both, and I know that you love and want what is best for your cat. Even though it is currently only meant with sarcasm, every time you refer to her with that name it probably evokes those same thoughts that made that name seem justifiable to you in the past and she can probably sense it, too. In my opinion, a name is a truly special and honored thing which reflects the good and notable characteristics (usually those that are endearing or silly qualities) and should be given with the most love and consideration for the one you are naming. Please just think about it.

I think names and nicknames are personal to us & our pets & the individual relationships we have with them. I know with my cats that it's tone of voice they understand. They know their names of course but any slightly rude nicknames are said with love so they don't know I'm being rude abou them. One of my cats got quite fat for example so even though she has lost done weight, she is mostly called Fattie or Podge. The extremely nice lady at the cattery has an even ruder name for one of her cats & she couldn't say it with more affection. But whatever they're called, it's what we personally choose.
But the question of this thread is about a change of behaviour & I don't think a nickname has done that. From the sounds of it, she's not had the best start in life & maybe didn't get fully socialised when she was a kitten & while she may have tolerated certain things before, she's feeling out of her comfort zone & it seems to have massively unsettled her. I know it seems like a long time ago you moved but actually, I've found with my own cats that these things can take a while. But she'll feel more settled quickly having you around as her bit of stability do keep on giving her the same love & routines that she's used to & I'm sure you'll get there.

Her not social might come from just from not liking strangers cuz she did just fine with the two cats we took with her when we removed them from my moms ex husband plus she very vocal so that probably means Steve probably talked to her a lot. Now when we first got her I was living with my mom and back then she hid a lot but after we moved to live with our grandparents she was fine social minus not liking my younger sister but that does not count cuz no animals like her. Like she was even friendly with our next-door neighbor which my grandparents and mom did not like. Could it be because theres less room here than the last 3 places she lived.

I'm sorry if I may have come across too strongly in my last post. It is definitely your personal preference for what you decide to call your pet, and it was never my intention to insinuate that your nickname for her was the instigator for Mama Kitty's change in behavior. Please forgive me if it came across that way. I know that you care greatly about her, and that is why you created this thread. I'm sorry if I am going off topic, but I just wanted to take this opportunity to apologize for any misunderstanding that my post may have caused.

I do hope that she will be settling in well at your new place and will get along with men again very soon. I'm not sure whether or not less spacious living conditions can result in this change in her. With this being said, I suppose it possibly can if she is used to having a larger space where she has more areas to seek refuge away from visitors when she needs a little alone time to feel more comfortable. I wish that I could be of more help, but I have never owned a cat and only fed and gave sanctuary for a few strays in the past due to me being highly allergic to them. Therefore, I am certainly not experienced enough to know the ins and outs of cat behavior. I'm sure she will be her friendlier self again with your love and care. Best of luck to you both.

Mama kitty does have very pretty markings indeed. What a character she is! I remembered a big ginger cat, Tigger , that used to sit on the slatted stairway above my friends sofa. Just when you were enjoying some good tv Tigger would lean down and scratch and bite you with no provocation. And I'm sure I called my cats names when one morning I found they left me THREE piles of steaming rabbit entrails to clean up. Truly revolting.
What wonderful creatures they are.
