Thank you all. A Clutch of eggs and brood of chicks is correct.

It can very in length to teach them to talk. Joe was as indoor pet that had been hand reared. She could say hello, Joe, no, goodbye and a few swear words when I got her. I taught her not to use the swear words.

She learns new words/sounds nearly every month. Mostly food items, but also tickle (head feather stroke), come out (come out of her cage), go in(to go back in the cage.

I taught the words, but the sounds were learnt from hearing them outside or on the television.

She used to do a Scottish accent and also some Scottish words.

Joe then taught Jake and they both taught the babies.

Hopefully they will breed later this year and I can share photos.

Wow. It's amazing that they teach each other. I did google African Greys and they do sound like wonderful pets (if quite a commitment). Some articles said they have the intelligence of a 5 year old child and some said adult parrots have the intelligence of a 9 year old child, so I can see you have your hands full and that they would learn well and be sharp witted!

They are like a permanent child. Tantrums, sulking, into mischief etc. But also form great bonds.

They can bond with one person only sometimes and be over protective of that person, being aggressive to others.

Socialisation when young can help. Along with training.

I'm in absolute awe of your wonderful birds, that they teach each other. I had a good giggle at how she used to do a Scottish accent and about tantrums and sulking lol!

Thank you. I wasn't fully prepared (even though I had researched) for just how much they understanding and use our language appropriately.

Once Joe learnt to name items. She learnt to say "I want" to ask for things. Soon after that she learnt "please" and "thank you". Just like children do, she would ask for something without the please. I would say " ask nicely" or where are your manners" she would ask again with the please (often emphasising the please).

The single young parrot has been moved away from it's parents and in with the older two. They get along well.

Both the parents and three others got soft food/rearing food. Joe and Jake have been seen mating, so hopefully soon she will lay eggs.

I am glad that the three of them are all getting along well after the single, young parrot moved in. I know it must make you so happy.

I hope that Joe and Jake will lay a nice clutch of eggs and you will all soon be blessed with a lovely new brood of baby chicks. If so, please update us with lots of pics if you have the chance.

Thank you.

I will try to keep the updates coming. Photos can be difficult (but I will try) as both parents will be in egg/chick protection mode. They will growl and follow up with a bite.

It will likely be a case of food bribery to get them to go in the flight. So I can check.

No worries if you aren't able to get any pics because the welfare of all of your feathery friends are most definitely the important thing here. I surely don't want to have the protective parents feel any stress at all, and I would definitely hate for you to be bitten due to it. I am so proud of Joe and Jake for being such devoted and protective parents. That is a true blessing and a wonderful thing.
