Baby Gerbils!
So yeah, during the week, im not at home. Only in the weekends.
So when i opened up my phone yesterday morning, i saw i had a text from my mother.
It said:
Hurray!
I asked what it was, and then the pictures came in.
4 Beautiful and sweet little gerbil babies!
My female had been very big for about 2 weeks now, so it was about time the babies would come.
They all are very sweet, and i can't wait to see what kind of colours they're gonna get!
When i have my phone again I'll post some pictures!

Re: Baby Gerbils!
Well done on the new babies horsey. Hope mum is now separated from dad though! !! Baby gerbils are just adorable. Make sure they are sexed and split at the correct ages though and paired up where possible. Females should really only be kept as a pair while male gerbils can live in smaller groups, but ideally, pairs are best. De-clanning in gerbils can happen at anytime with adults which is why it`s better to keep them in pairs in a decent sized tank. It`s good that she only had four little ones so hopefully they will be two males, two females or all the same gender!
The female babies could possibly stay with their mum but any male babies will need splitting away when they are weaned and at that stage where they could get the females pregnant, but make sure you know the day/date they were born to determine their exact ages. Put that on a calendar to remind you and after five weeks or so, they should be mature enough to tell which genders they are. x

I personally wouldn't recommend removing the male. Unlike with hamsters, gerbil fathers are very loving and help prevent cannibalism and other issues with pups.
The issue of course is that the female will go into heat soon after birthing, thus she'll have another litter, but if they're intentionally being bred then that probably isn't an issue. Racinghamster gave you good advice

Re: Baby Gerbils!
Horsey, congrats on your litter of gerbil pups. How thrilling it must be! I'm so happy that mum and babies are all doing well. The four babies are SO precious. Which ones are you keeping, the ones with the solid color coat or the ones with the patches? They are all so adorable. Congrats on also getting the pups that you are not planning on keeping already sold. I am so happy for you, although I am sure it will be hard to see them go. I know they will be happy in their new homes soon though. I am looking forward to any updates that you can share whenever time permits.

Re: Baby Gerbils!
Oh, they're lovely! I have four gerbils at the moment but my two boys are very old and doddery (coming up for four years old)
Nice to see some pups!
