How a hamster can be with other animals?
Hey there!! I'm curious how a hamster can be with other animals? my animal family is a bit big but I hope the new member got no problems with any of them! what is your experience?
I also want to show you my little babies
First my dogs, Hina is the dalmatian, the big wolfie is Gin and the little girl is Lassie.
My ferrets, Shumi is the "white" one and the other one is Zoe! (Shumi is Zoe's mum).
And then my rats! two brothers my little boys Ash and Loki!
My dogs respect my rats and my ferrets and they all seem respect each others (sometimes Loki try bite Hina or Gin nose XD)
But how do you think a hamster can be with dogs or others animals?

Re: How a hamster can be with other animals?
Hamsters are easily stressed by dogs.Even if they aren't actually aggressive towards your hamster or any other animal for that matter,it is extremely stressful and they are still a predator in your hamster's mind.Ferrets are predators as well, and rats and hamsters should not be around each other either.

Re: How a hamster can be with other animals?
As Amity said, hamsters would be stressed by pretty much all the pets you mentioned. Maybe you could keep your hamster in an isolated room where the door shuts tightly in case the dogs want to sneak in. If you don't desperately want a hamster I probably wouldn't do it.
Edit: I just saw your other thread saying that you are already planning on hammies soon

Re: How a hamster can be with other animals?
I see I was just asking the experience of people with hamster and having others animals at home x3
I know a dog and a ferret are predators, my ferrets got one room for them, and my rats too (obv I was not going to put my rats or my ferrets around my ham lol haha that would be just so stupid).
Althought my dogs are predators my rats never felt that way with them :/ either them, they can't even kill an insect lol
But I guess I'll see when she get home
My house is pretty big, they don't stay together or something like that, that would be so crazy and stupid by me, ferrets got one room (they never go out there unless I go with them out or so) my rats are on another one (which every room obv got a door xD) my rats are used to my dogs so sometimes I let them play with eachother and with my ferrets (with my dogs) they just see eachother sometimes and that all x3 My rats never been with my ferrets or otherway
I got already a room for my ham I was just asking about the experience with ppl with their ham and other animals... :/

Re: How a hamster can be with other animals?
Hope everything works out well when you get your new hamster. At least now you'll know that the other animals would cause stress on the hamster. If they get stressed enough can develop wet tail, a disease that can be fatal quickly if not treated. Just words to be aware as I'm sure you would be real careful as you must love pets.
