He wont accept the hand feeding thing and his mom is gone... so he doesnt have a mother or siblings.im using Kaytee exact handfeeding formula and syringes. I tried a spoon but he wouldnt use it. He eats a little but he pushes it out of his mouth somtimes. Im really worried. am i doing somthing wrong?

Re: Baby Jay
I was thinking: Did you warm up the formula before giving it to Jay? Most animals drink warm milk from their moms and if it isn't warm they don't always drink it. You might be able to get Jay to eat it if it's warm.

Re: Baby Jay
How old is the cockatiel? Depending on the age the food is different consistencies.
If the food it too hot or too cold they won't eat it. I prefer the spoon method of feeding. It can take the chick a while to accept the spoon after being fed by the parent (if yours has been fed by the parent). While feeding the chick should bob it's head up and down. Take little breaks when feeding to ensure they are getting time to breath. You may also have to very carefully massage the crop to get excess air out.
