Re: Oh these animals hey !
What`s the reason for breeding your mice? The male will require attention to any wounds and these may or may not cause him on going problems if they turn into OCD scratching. A condition that can`t be cured if a mouse starts to scratch at open wounds and it becomes an obsession. Bites from other mice can be very serious. I would remove your male and keep him alone. Male mice are better kept alone anyway as they are notorious for falling out and fighting. Your boy obviously fell foul of the female, but if she`s pregnant, she may have turned volatile against the male. They should only be kept together if the male and female are continually mated and this isn`t good for the female for obvious reasons.
Using saline (one pint of boiled, COOLED water and add a teaspoonful of salt) and allow this to cool. Use it to gently wipe any sores or wounds the male has if they are deep.
I wouldn`t apply anything else as it may need Baytril antibiotic and applying this orally using a 1ml syringe the vet would provide needs to be done twice a day and you need to know how to do this. Getting Baytril into a mouse or a hamster isn`t easy. So hopefully your male will be okay after this attack.
What are your plans for any baby mice? You know they need sexed at four weeks of age?
