Default The Great Mouse Escape!

Well, hardly great. I went to feed her and before I could open the door she just slipped through to greet me! Then she went back inside. Then outside. For all I know she's been able to escape all along and just hasn't bothered to go far

Anyway, she had to live in a bin over night and I'm going to be frantically searching for a cage today with small enough bars. It's a pity I gave the local rescue that tank with the wire mesh top. I'd bought it in case Suri was pregnant and when she turned out not to be I donated all my extra cages and tanks I'd collected to house the babies. Darn it!

But what about a bin? Maybe I should just keep her in that. It's certainly big enough and it's one I'd picked up as a potential cage and just never converted.

Oh no, sneaky girl! Jerry mouse is in a meshed Guinea pig cage. I think it's perfect for him because they love to climb and he can climb all over it. Though it's not pretty. I replaced the colored zip ties with clear since that photo. He loves it! It's also easy to hang toys. It's a huge pain and takes hours, but making a bin is tedious too. Of course you already have one finished.

Well, that's pretty amazing! You must be doing something right if she hasn't tried to leave in all the time she's been able to get out. I don't see why a bin couldn't be fine. Just give her lots of climbing toys. If you want to give her a cage later, fine, but a bin should hold her for now.

I have an extra guinea pig cage already meshed but I was afraid that my meshing job wasn't good enough to prevent a mouse escape, especially through the corners. I like how you've set up your cage, what is the white stuff covering the edges of the mesh?

Thank you. That's tape. A no-no really I know, but he can only reach a piece on the front door since it's on the outside. I have to take that strip off. He's not touching the rest of it fortunately. A hamster would! Covers the pokeys though.
