I do think that rescuing them is a VERY, very good thing but taking thriving wild animals from the wild purely to supply the pet market seems like a bad thing to me Just my opinion though, I know that Colby would take very, very good care of them x
Random hermit crab story; a couple weeks back my sister rescued three hermit crabs that were listed on craigslist. One look at their tank told the story; the substrate was bone-dry, half the tank was filled with calcium sand (basically the fluffy bedding of the hermit crab world) and their water dish and sponge was covered in black rot.
Then when she met the owner to take the crabs home, they started DIGGING through the dirt to find them!
Aaaaghhhhhhh it's like seeing a hamster someone's trying to get rid of, in a tiny cage with fluffy bedding and a wire wheel.
