Talking Kitty Cats

Other than a hamster, we also have two cats, and a hedgehog.

The female cat is named Layla, while the male cat is Mitchell. I believe Layla is an Egyptian Mau, not sure if Mitchell is any special breed.

We call Mitchell Chunky Monkey, because he is a pretty big cat. The two are brother and sister, as they've been together forever. Very playful and protective of each other.

When we gave them both showers last year, while one is receiving the shower and wailing their butt off, the other is outside the bathroom meowing and scratching at the door. At times, they are so pathetic.

As for the hedgehog, her name is Sweetpea. She is getting old, about 5 yrs old or so right now.

I'm a huge cat person, have grown up with cats my entire life. Nothing against dogs, I've just never owned one myself, and cats are so much easier and convenient. Most you have to do is feed them and clean their litter box.

Post some pictures of the two when I get a chance.

Oh good! We love pictures!

I have a hedgie too, do you ever have to use water to get her out of her ball or is she always tame? Mine goes into moods where we have to put him in shallow, warm water, then he comes out and he's fine(recommended by breeder).

Oh Egyptian Maus are stunning! Have only ever met one in the flesh so looking forward to seeing your photos.

I have had dogs all my life (all my family dislike cats) but I want a pussy cat so badly! I have set my heart on a pair of ragdolls - just got to save first lol

@ Colby

Sweetpea is hard to get out of her ball to, but that is how hedgies are naturally. Especially when their sleeping lol. Usually we just hold her for a few minutes, and eventually she will come out.

We also sometimes put her in warm water in the bathtub, but we do that because she is old, and she shows it. She either has arthritis, or her joints stiffen easily. The warm water helps soothe her and her legs. The drawback is, she never fails to poop a few times when sitting in warm water. Lol!

@JBH

Yes they do. Layla was actually nicknamed Dragon at an early age because the coat on her back looks like she has wings like a dragon. She certainly does have a very awesome coat.

Not just her back, but on the sides of her legs, she has stripes like a tiger. Her coat is very cool. She also comes from a long line, as my dad owns Layla's mother and father. (Squeaker and Max, respectively). Both Egyptian Maus, of course. But they don't nearly have quite an elegant coat as Layla does. Max's has more of a spotty, grey coat, while squeaker has a bit more stripes with grey. I'd say Layla got the best mix possible.
