Oh poor Twix, how long will they be apart for? Do you put them together again when the chicks are raised? how long does it take before the chicks are raised?

Six to eight weeks, depending on when Reese decides they can fend for themselves. After they leave, I'll put Twix back in ASAP, my poor guy will be so sad, I know it just from his personality. He's a big teddy bear
I love spring, because, at its peak, I might have 20 chicks to cuddle! Nothing is more fun than going to feed a chicken and hearing peeps from inside the nest, haha.
I have 6 chicks right now, all girls, in the incubator. This is their thread: 6 new golden additions!.
I'm so over winter

Re: The Tweeses
This is a very exciting and informative thread. I'm certainly looking forward to the new arrivals. I feel sad for Twix though but I'm sure he'll manage. It's very important to keep the babies safe.

I'm sure he'll be fine once he realises I'm going to spoil him to death, haha. Brought him some pizza crust(a rare treat) today, he's a happy chicken. He did give most of it to Reese though.
I actually have a waiting list, and the people on it are probably the only ones as excited as me. They were told they'd have to wait until late June or early July as I didn't think she'd have them this early, they were so happy when I said they'd be ready in late May/Early June!
Mama Reese is working on her nest, chickens are so funny with their nests. You can put all the straw you want in there, but some mothers just kick it out. Others, like Reese, go a bit crazy with the nest. She has so much stuff in there including all the straw I give her. I'm glad though, it means the babies are warm

Re: The Tweeses
Today, on day 3, the chicks are getting the beginning of their nose, beginning of their legs, and the beginning of their wings, hopefully! I'm here to answer questions too, I like informative threads, haha.
This is a slightly better picture of Twix, you can see his ears at least!

Yep! At first they're a bit wet with the goo in the egg, but after a hour or two they're dried off, fluffy, and adorable
Well, more like fuzzy at first. After about 4 days the long fur starts coming in.
They look like cotton balls with feet!
