My Newest Addition!

The exciting news for me is that I have just got a new addition to my family, his name is Jacob and he is a Chinchilla, aged 7 months!

I picked him up on Sunday and he's settling in at the moment. He likes his cage but still a little jumpy and unsure of me, which is fine so I'll work at his pace to gain his trust. He's absolutely beautiful and I already love him to bits, I can't wait to build a great relationship in the many years we will have together.

Photos will follow at some point, I haven't got any good ones yet as I didn't want to startle him.

If anyone has any tips about gaining his confidence, apart from the usual stuff, please share with me

It's been a few years now since my last chin died so I just need to make do with looking at other peoples

Yay another chin! Congrats

We've had our Merlin for over three years now, and it's estimated that he's four and a half. We got him from a bad situation, so gaining trust and building a bond took about a year, but it was so worth it. So I guess my main bit of advice would be to be patient. Chinchillas have very unique personalities, so you have to really get to know each other, and some chins are more personable than others, but they are very rewarding little creatures.
