Default Dog crate for rabbit

Will this dog crate be OK for a rabbit?

Double Door Transport Cage: Great Deals on Dog Carriers & Kennels at zooplus

The largest one of course

I'm moving my rabbit indoors next month and he needs a safe place at night. He will have free roam of my room during the day, but at night, I'd put him in this.

My room has carpet, so I'm thinking of covering most of the floor with pee pads and towels. Will that be enough to protect the carpet?

Does anyone know what breed he is? He looks mixed, and he probably is. I know hardly nothing about rabbits. There is a chance he is inbred though.

The dog crate is a great idea and many people use them for indoor bunnies. You can leave the door open to allow him to come and go and have lost of stimulation for him with toys and veggie treats. Your carpet may get scratched at or chewed, so I`m not sure how you might go about covering or protecting it. Hopefully other members can guide you on that one! x

Thanks I'll be ordering one soon then.

I'll be letting him do what he wants during the day when I'm around (I'm normally in my room all day anyway) but because I have cats, he's safer in the crate. My cats haven't shown any interest in him when he's been out in the garden, but things could change when he's inside.

If my cats do accept him, I'll definitely let him out all day and night

I can keep one of my cats out my room, but my other, she always wants to come in and rips up the carpet outside my door if it's shut. Luckily, she's the one that is calm.

My dog does not like him and when he's escaped, she's had hold of him. She's not allowed/can't get upstairs though, so he's definitely safe from her

Well it`s always best to be on the wary side when different species are around the same house/rooms, so keeping bunny in his lock up while the cats are roaming around is a sensible move. Not because the cats may attack the rabbit, but they could feel intimidated and have a swipe at him with their claws and inflict an injury, which you want to avoid at all costs. x
