Default Large robust dog crate - recommendations?

Can anyone recommend a really robust, good quality dog crate?

My rescue GSD, Prentiss, likes her crate fine and chooses to go in it to sleep for periods day and night. When we are in the door is open and she wanders in and out at will, including at night. However, she still has residual separation anxiety and if she is shut into her crate when we are out for a couple of hours she bends the wires and has broken out a few times. I am really worried she will injure herself and I can't really leave her uncontained as she can open doors and the toddler gate at the top of the stairs and might get at the rats and hamsters, as well as terrifying the cat!

She is tiny for a GSD, at 23kg (people always think she is a pup), and no bigger than a border collie. I do want her to be able to stand up, turn around, etc, though. I don't mind spending a fair bit for something that will work really well.

Here are some crates I have looked at with comments:
Technogroom Limited : Large Holding Cage 110cm W X 80cm X 66cm D [RJKA505L], £275.00 - Dog Grooming Supplies and Equipment direct to you from the UK's Laube Clipper and Kelco Shampoo Experts! - Looks good but currently out of stock and can't find it anywhere else.
Dog Cage: Classic Fold & Carry Dog Cage | DrsFosterSmith.com - Currently not available in the UK and shipping likely to be prohibitive (I enquired about a crate on eBay and shipping cost more than the crate itself.)
Single Dog Crates - As above.
Sky vari Kennel Giant - More enclosed than she's used to, but I understand that can actually be reassuring for a nervous dog.
Aluline Double Dog Crate XXL. Free P&P on orders £19+ at zooplus! - Would the sloping front compromise space?
Dog Crates, Dog Cages, Black Dog Crate, UK Dog Crate Company - Can something so cheap really be as strong as it claims?
Aluminium Dog Crates - Built to last a Lifetime | eBay - Probably not large enough but it says they will build to order. Looks a bit like something Houdini would've used in his act.

Thoughts, advice and recommendations would be very welcome.

No hands on experience with dog crates, but the build to order one is the nicest looking one Plus the made to measure is surely a good point

My dog suffers with severe seperation anxiety and we found the crate actually worsened his behaviour - have you got it in a corner with large blankets over it as this is supposed to help..?

I know you say she can open doors but what if you put a chair against it? It was a long process with lots of things getting destroyed but he just couldn't stand his crate.. so we did need to give him his 'own' room.

It also may be worth contacting behaviourists etc to help with the anxiety as she may just destroy another crate - they are alot cheaper then I thought

Not sure how long your pooch is left for, but it could help if you know a neighbour to pop in halfway through the time frame. xx

When we had our cocker spaniel, she would go nuts if one of us left the room and she couldn't follow, especially my mom. So we finally went to a behaviorist and he prescribed some anti anxiety medication for her as well as breaking her over attachment from us. Maybe that's what you need to do as well.

I have a gsd cross who is in a xxl size cage which is around 42" in length I got if rom eBay for about £30 it's super strong as its been knocked about about in my house with different things happening. It may be worth speaking to a behaviourist or breeder in your area to see if they can recommend any cages or if you have a metal works shop near by you could maybe ask them to make you one xx

This is the one I have in the back of my car for dog walking:
Barkshire Premier Double Door Car Crate Large Exclusive To PetPlanet Dog Products for Sale

Don't think I've ever seen a GSD standing up in person, so not sure on how tall they actually are, but the crate fits a large-ish labrador comfortably enough for him to stand and lie down with legs stretched.

Some people have had problems with that crate (there are reviews on Amazon, this is an identical one: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B...A3L6WYJ6GSO7EV ), or that type (look on the Amazon page, it'll show the other varieties of the same make), but the reviews seem to be human incompetance on the part of the buyer for the most part - or at least, my father and I put mine up, took it back apart, and re-built it inside my car (it doesn't QUITE fit through the boot ) in about an hour, with very little hassle (one metal slot was a bit bent, easy to fix with a large flat-head screwdriver ).

Barjo is the other 'brand name' that people recommend (along with Safe Dog, but those are most definitely car crates...the best & safest car crates you can buy, but over the top for your needs ), not sure if they do indoor crates, but I'd imagine they do. I get my crate matting from Barjo as the PetPlanet one is very slippery when in a car - easily sorted in the home with vetbed or blankets...it is wipe-clean though

Have you thought of asking a local trainer about his behavior? My wolf-hybrid has severe separation anxiety, and he did the same kind of behavior. Eventually, I managed to train it out, but it took quite a while.

She is vastly improved. Yesterday we were out for the day and she had the run of downstairs, the stairs and the landing and all she destroyed was her own cushion which is easily replaced . Plus, she didn't leap all over us when we came home but lay quietly in her open crate.

Thank you very much for the recommendation, Kiania - I will measure up. She is a very small GSD - only 23 kg and no taller than a border collie - so if it's good for a lab it would probably suit her fine.

I checked and it is slightly less wide and tall but deeper than her current crate, which is probably twice as big as she needs, so I've ordered it along with a bed/cushion which was discounted. Thank you

Not a problem, I hope you're happy with it The good thing is it is quite heavy, so not so easy to throw around
