I already knew that, and I couldn't be more excited about it!! I have been counting down the days since I discovered this bit of news a few months back and checking all my reliable sources for more info on this nearly every week or so. Summer just can't come fast enough!!!!

In case you're wondering about my screen name on that forum, its Nubbitz.

I'll soon have 8 piggies in total (4 pairs of boars). I adore guinea pigs, they have the most wonderful of natures and are thoroughly enjoyable to live alongside.

As others have said they need companionship, sows can live in large groups but I wouldn't suggest you have more than two boars together. Their diets are 80% hay which should be UNLIMITED, 5% pellets (I feed a 1/4 cup a day in two servings) and 15% vegetables which should amount to around 1 cup per day. Green leafy veg is best along with peppers, fruit can be fed in moderation as treats. Here is a food list that piggies can eat http://www.theguineapigforum.co.uk/s...ncl-Ca-P-Ratio) .

They are friendly, sociable animals who need out of cage time every day. They also need an indoor setup which should be at least 4x2ft although bigger is always better with piggies. My boys all have 6x2ft setups. Ferplast 120 or 140 cages are also a nice choice.

You'll love them, I can't imagine how anyone couldn't.

LavoChain has given you some excellent advice there I like the guinea pig forum site & also use Guinea Lynx :: A Medical and Care Guide for Your Guinea Pig a US site with incredible detail on healthcare & nutrition. They are amazing at rescues & rehoming too if you are in the US. They are highly recommended by me for their care & medical guides if you are thinking of getting pigs.

Do consider that guinea pigs are exotic animals in terms of vet care & can be extremely costly if they get ill. We have our guineas insured & have had some pretty big bills over the years...

I love having guinea pigs, they are fab little personalities. Good luck in your guinea adventures

I do know that a lot can go wrong health wise with a guinea pig and that the vet bills will add up tremendously. However, the reward of owning them is well worth loosing a large chunk of funds from my bank account. Perhaps more so.
