Default The life stories of my other pets

I got bored just now, and decided to share with you the backstory of all our pets. First, I'll start by saying that we have 4 dogs, 3 cats, 2 mice and 1 hamster. My cameras being stubborn right now, so pics will come later.

To start, the dogs:

-Kirby is our oldest, whose around my age (16) She was given to us by one of my stepdads relatives 13ish years ago, because she had been attacking his dogs. To this day she still hates other dogs, and has to be kept seperated from everyone else. She loves people though; Can't get enought attention.

-Cocoa is our next oldest, somewhere between 6-8 years. We aren't sure, exactly. She was one of the puppies from my mom's friends oops litter. We took her in because my older brother had been begging for a dog, but of course now that he's moved out, she's still here. Which is great of course; She's super playful and loveable, even at her age.

-Buddy is our youngest, only 6-7 months old. The lady we got him from was like the lady we got Turtle from; Cared more about the money than anything. When she pulled up he was dirty, shy, and the laundry basket she'd had him in had tipped over on his head while they were driving. Of course she didn't notice that-She had him in the trunk! (It was an open trunk, like in suvs, but still)

The kitties-

-Gypsy, the oldest, was found in a field with her brother at three weeks. We took them both in, though the brother later ran away, and bottle fed them. She's now 11 years old, and grouchy as can be lol. But she loves to crawl under the blankets and sleep in the crook of your knees. A perfect lil cuddler.

-Butters, the second oldest, was 6ish weeks old when he was found under the dumpster at the mall by a worker. They went to find someone to take him, and just happened to find my mom, who was managing a shoe store at the time. She-of course-agreed to bring him home, and now he's about 5 years old.

-Keona, the youngest, is only about 8 months old. She was dumped out here in the country, and made her way up to our front porch. It was love at first sight and we gladly welcomed her into our home-although Gypsy was a little less welcoming. They still only tolerate each other, but her and Butters will sleep curled up nex to each other, like they are right now. (No worries-Butters is fixed) Though I think she may be pregnant anyways; Her bellies getting bigger and tighter. Would explain why she got dumped, huh?

Yall already know about my mice, and of course you know about Turtle lol. So I guess that wraps up my little ramble.

I love this thread. Your animals all seem so lovely!

All of my cats were cats that have been taken in (strays) because my mum just can't stand to see them starving. We once had a pregnant little starving cat who actually lived under our decking in the garden... We tried coaxing her out but it didn't work. After a while, we starting hearing little mews outside the window. My dad had to pull up the decking and found two little kittens there! We ended up homing them all.

Most other cats have come to our door for food and have eventually learned to live with is. We have six at the moment.

They all have pretty wild personalities, so I won't go into that, but their names are:
Bumblebee
Optimus Prime (Me and my sister like Transformers a lot!)
Jaffa
Storm
Athena (She's still only in the food-taking process, and hasn't yet learnt that she can move in)
Drizzle (Same situation as Athena)

The oldest cat I remember, we had for about twelve years. He was found in a tree and no one would take him in. It was my mums first cat, and she had nothing to feed him except fish, hence his name Tuna. c: He did a couple of years ago sadly. I pretty much grew up with him!

Aww! Sorry about little tuna

Yeah, we feed all the strays too. We don't typically let them move in though, because gypsy can't stand other cats. Butters came in before she got old and grouchy, and Keona didn't really give us a choice. She just ran inside one day when I opened the door, and just stayed inside ever since. But there are a lot of strays outside that we feed, like Thumbs (he's polydactal-he literally has thumbs on his paws!!) And Tigger and Cinnamon and... It's a reeeeaaaally long list lol.

September, you and your mum sound lovely to open your hearts to all those animals who find themselves in need through no fault of their own. They all sound wonderful and I bet they repay you tenfold with their love.

Poor Buddy, doesn't sound like he had a very caring start from his previous owner; bet he is so happy now! I look forward to seeing the pics! x

Yeah, their all so great. Except butters doesn't actually like people. He'll let you pet him and such, but he can't stand being held. No idea why lol. I actually have some pics on my computer, of two of the cats. So here they are:

Keona-

Gypsy-

Gasp!! I just realized I forgot to include Sophie in the dogs! Poor Sophie! Her story: She was a shelter dog that we saw online (one of those ads for adopt-a-pet popped up on the screen) and we instantly fell in love with her, and filled out an application that same day. The next morning they said we'd been approved, but that her litter had contracted parvo, so we would have to wait. After the parvo scare passed, she got a corneal ulcer!! So once again we had to put off bringing her home. When we finally went and got her, it was so great. Completely worth the wait/worry

aw Keona looks so content in that photo! We used to have a cat with very similar markings to Gypsy. My parents currently have two rescued cats, one is 17 and the other is about 8 I think.

Sophie sounds lovely. It must have been awful at the time having to wait to go and get her.

Ironically that pic of keona was taken the first day she showed up, before she had a name or a place in the family. My aunt opened the door to tell me a stray was out there and she came running in, ate some of Gypsy's food, and took a nap. Not shy at all lol

The biggest thing about all of the putting-off of getting sophie was that I was super worried that she would die in the shelter, alone. But we've had her for almost a year now, and all is good.
