Default Poor guinea pig! Possible Adoption

I was looking through the ads again (i know i`m bad ) and found one for a male and female guinea pig housed together, female is pregnant and wanting a lot of money. I offered to take the female and told them they could sell the male with the supplies and mentioned that if the birth went wrong it could get very expensive. I'm not sure I will keep the guinea pig but I want to get it away from that person and make sure it has a fighting chance along with the babies. The cage they are selling with the piggies ( which they seem to be trying to sell all together to keep together) is not big enough for the two in there let alone babies. Fleece lining the cages is working wonderfully for me and is now quicker then bedding so I'm saving quite a bit right there. I think hubby is gonna want to kill me if they agree to let me take the piggy, but worst case scenario I have an extra cage already, can keep males if there are any in there, females I can try to temporarily keep with current piggies if i can socialize them- which we'll see and if not I can get another cage anyways (which will make my apartment tiny). Getting them homes might take a bit but this is a suburb so there are tons of families with kids and if I make sure everyone knows they need to be kept in pairs then very doable. I don't want them to have her anymore. poor piggy.

I can only hope that they will decide what is best for the guinea pig at this stage after allowing her to get pregnant then abandoning her.

This person is insane. Right now she is saying no because she doesn't want to split them up. I pointed out to her that they will keep getting pregnant and having babies, as will the babies. She doesn't seem to know much english either. So I guess we'll see if she responds to that. She is just using them for a paycheck at this point and i refuse to give someone so cruel the 100 dollars they are asking for a cage I don't need and probably sub par supplies. But i want to get the pig away from her so it will be taken care of because I'm sure if it has babies while with her and there are complications she'll do nothing for it. Seriously don't like people like that. Just grrrrr. there should be a screening process for buying pets or something.

Plus I can't see anyone on the site paying for the male to get fixed to keep them together with the price she is asking. So if someone buys them they will just turn around and put one back up or keep them and continue breeding them for profit. If there aren't any complications the first time.

Yikes, I'm really sorry to hear someone is this evil and stupid

Could you maybe offer to take both guinea pigs for a few dollars and mention that the setup will probably sell better without the animals, then the female doesn't cost a fortune if there're complications with the birth e.t.c...?
I know taking both'd be a nightmare and I bet she'd still say no, but it might be worth a shot if possible.

I really do hate people like that woman

I guess I could try. I don't know if she'll respond to me now or not. She didn't seem to like my logic not that I really care what she likes. I e-mailed her again and mentioned selling the supplies and why they would sell better alone. Offered to take both guinea pigs and get the male fixed didn`t mention paying one way or the other if she is interested in the proposal i`m sure she'll ask (i'm pretty sure she would anyways as its pretty obvious she wants money from this situation). So I guess we'll see. There are tons of unwanted guinea pigs in this area unfortunately. I've tried all i can think of with her so I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Yeah, good luck.
I've got my fingers crossed for the poor girl having things work out ok.

Me too. Regardless of whether I get her I hope someone gets her that will take care of her and do something about that living situation.
