Theres enough space and then theres going over the top. each to there own though
Yes if you have the garden space (and of course if parents allow you, or if you have permission from the council to build a structure in the first place) to do that then its fine but not everyone does/is allowed, that does not however mean they are not going to give good care and look after it/them.
At least the OP isnt suggesting a 2ft by 2ft and no sort of run at all.
and yes i have seen people keep bunnys in that condition but its not something i or many people would do, but whilst the hutches are still being sold then people will still keep buying. and that hutch is better than that.
everyone has different opinions of how they are happy keeping there animals at the end of the day as long as they are being looked after no one has the right to dictate to people that they should not have a pet.

Re: Rabbit hutch recommendations
Housing is all part of good care though
And true it's not super tiny but it's not really big enough and is expensive for what it is. Especially two level hutches, the ramps cut off most of the space on the bottom level.
At the end of the day, with an animal that can easily live 8+ years it's only fair to provide them with appropriate housing.

Re: Rabbit hutch recommendations
For a rabbit, to meet welfare standards, you really need at least a 6ft hutch, with a run attached. I personally don't believe in hutches for rabbits, I have a shed, but if you only have space for a hutch, this is an excellent choice. And when you think of your rabbits happiness and the years it will last, its not really that much.

Please don't put a rabbit in anything smaller. It's so unfair.

Re: Rabbit hutch recommendations
The main problem I have with those types of hutch-runs is that the hutch is simply far too small, the idea isn't bad, but it really isn't big enough, photos can be misleading, my local pet-shop sells those and they are so tiny in person If you have £130 to play with you would be better off buying a shed or wendy house, and adding a run to it

By not providing the space they need, they aren't being looked after. Suitable housing is part and parcel of looking after an animal and catering to their needs. If you don't have the space to provide them with suitable housing, wait until you have the space, create the space or, if you can't do either of those, get one that doesn't need as much space.
I certainly don't agree that you shouldnt tell someone they shouldn't have a pet if they can't provide for it, including suitable housing. We're all animal lovers here and I doubt anyone would recommend someone get a pet that they can't provide for as it would, to be frank, be cruel (not by any means directing that at anyone!!!) Obviously not everyone has the space to house their animals in massive homes - I just hit the bare minimum for my Syrians cage. But if we don't recommend a minimum ourselves, seeing as we have more knowledge than the average joe where small animals and housing is concerned, we might as well give up the fight for better homes for animals altogether.
Anyway, I doubt this topic was meant to become a debate on whether a person should get a pet if they can't reach the recommended minimum space requirements! Back on topic for me
I went looking for a thread after posting on here similar to our "Show us your cages" and found one on a rabbit forum, which should give the OP some ideas - both commercial and homemade cages. Hope the mods don't mind me linking to it, as it is a link to another forum.
Where do your rabbits live? x - Rabbits United Forum The threads quite old so I worked from the most recent post backwards, there are some fantastic ideas on there, hope it helps

Re: Rabbit hutch recommendations
You are so right. I just dont like people thinking that just because people do have the big sheds does it mean that everything else is wrong.
As long as you follow at least what the rspca suggests then you cant really go wrong. Anything else is preference, availble space ect.
I do agree with you Its nice to have different opinions on topics but some people just cant help themselfs sometimes can they lol

I think this one would be best totally worth the money and will last and a good size, then after a while you could always buy another run to add on via run around tube or just keep it separate so they can have a change of scenery which is always interesting for bunnies even a metal one to add on, I have a metal one on the end of my 6 x 4 run and hutch but it needs supervision as it only has a curtain over the top lol even though it's 4ft high that's no problem for my springy little ones haha

If you start a thread on the rabbit forum then you will get a lot of good links to housing Or even the housing threads are a great place to get ideas I have improved our rabbits housing so much since I have been on RU
