Our little mouse friend!

So, whenever I clean out my hamster cages, I give the binliner of woodshavings to my mum, as apparently it's useful for her compost heap. She opened up the compost bin in the garden today and a little mouse was rolling around in it, apparently having a whale of a time

She shrieked then just put the veg peels in so looks like we have a new garden pet LOL. Weird!

I had a peep and he was curled up sleeping all cosy, I don't really know what to do about that, but, I have no interest in compost so I'll let my parents decide about that lol.

oohh! that sounds cute! i found a mouse in my back garden in the compost bin aswell like years ago but i briefly remember the little guy/girl i didnt check lol

Awh, that's so cute, although I would have screamed too ^.^
I think the sawdust also makes the compost less.. mushy, like.. too much grass etc can be bad for it >.<
I don't think mice would be as bad as other things, It's obviously not ideal.. but I bet he's glad he landed no his feet :3

No idea, figured my parents know what works for them! Gardening etc has never been an interest of mine haha.
Haha indeed, free food and bedding in this weather...my mum says she'd feel too guilty to move him out lol.

We have mice that visit our garden regularly, we think there living under the garden shed in the garden right behind ours.
As long as they don't make there way indoors, id just leave them to it.
I love all animals and finally seeing the little mouse was great

I bet he has lots of food with all the hamster mix in the sawdust

I rather like mice and we have quite a few in our garden. As long as they stay out there it's fine!

It's when you're looking out of your window at the beautiful snow.. and something black and about a foot long streaks across your patio that you need to be worried.

I also left a millet spray out in the garden for the squirrel (didn't know if they'd want it, but thought I'd try) and my mum said the rat ate it :s

I wouldn't mind mice.. but rats are a bit scarier!
I'd feel really good about keeping it safe and warm in this weather anyway, I always feel sorry for animals in the winter >.<

I feed the wild birds and there forever dropping seed.
So theres always plenty of it about for the little mouse to eat.

Oh jesus...that must have been pretty terrifying! I like domesticated rats, but the only wild rats I've seen look like they have a million diseases and look pretty rabid lol.

Lucky for him my cat's too old and lazy to chase mice!
