Re: African Pygmy Mice
They are fantastic! I can't imagine anything so tiny although I've seen field mice in a similar set up. I reckon I'd be glued to the tank watching them 24:7

Re: African Pygmy Mice
Hi,
Annie - These guys won't grow much bigger than they are now. They are currently just over an inch long from nose to vent. Others that I have seen were just under two inches long from nose to vent.
Jesse - It's very easy to watch these (and the Harvest Mice) for hours!! They are amazing and so agile.
Fluffymunckins - My African Pygmy Mice are fed on a mixture of small seeds (millets, linseed, niger seed, budgie tonic seed etc), with a little softbill bird food for extra protein and a few crushed dried mealworms sprinkled with a calcium supplement.
Heather.

Re: African Pygmy Mice
Hi,
Here are a couple more pics of Hani and Haifa that were taken earlier today. They are getting quite confident now and are very curious about anything that is going on in the room around them.

Re: African Pygmy Mice
Wow these little meeces are just so cute!
That looks like an amazing cage set up - how do you clean it out each week?!

Re: African Pygmy Mice
Hi Hope,
Thank you for your kind comments. The tank will be cleaned after Hani and Haifa are caught in a jar (they are too small to be handled) and popped safely in a travel box. The rest will be dimantled, the litter and hay changed and the rest of their bits put back.
The meeces will then be put back into their nice clean home.
Heather.

Re: African Pygmy Mice
Hi,
Hani & Haifa would like to introduce their four beautiful babies who were born on the 18th of June.
I was cleaning out their home today and popped Hani, Haifa and their pups in a travel box. While they were in the box I took a few pics of them alongside a penny to give some indication of just how tiny these mice are.
Haifa is expecting again so she will stay with Hani until she has raised her second litter. She will then be split with her daughters to raise her third and final litter. Hani will be either matched with another mate or matched with sons.
These little guys are amazing to watch and I can;t get over just how tiny the babies are.
Heather.
