Moving Detolf advise

So we're moving house soon and I'm trying to plan things.

How did people move there detolf enclosures?

We have 2 that need moving.
Our new house is only 5 minute drive, but lots of speed bumps.
We're hiring a van with 2 people to help move for 3 hours.

Would it be better to disassemble or try to move whole?
We have tapestries and blankets to try and protect them.

I'm not sure our friend's cars can fit them as most only have small cars.
But I struggle with spacial awareness so unsure.

I don’t know about a detolf specifically because I’ve never had one or put one together. Just general advice from being in house moves I think it heavily depends on who’s carrying it, and if there’s stairs. Also I would never eye spaces, always measure and then measure again to be absolutely sure, you don’t want to find out mistakes on moving day. Consider room shapes as well if you’ll even be able to menouver it around corners and doors.

Not moved a detolf, but have moved the living world eco habitat enclosure (perspex and wood and the marrakesh cage (which is glass and wood) recently.

I removed everything but the bedding, wrapped the cages in fleece blankets, towels etc. i too was only moving 5 mins away. My brother and nieces boyfriend moved them for me in my brothers car.

Not going to lie, it was probably the most stressful part of the move, but it all went ok in the end.

I was in two minds whether to remove the bedding too, but asked on Instagram and it was a 50/50 split whether people have removed/or would remove bedding as well when moving

How big is the van? If it will fit on the floor lengthways then as long as wrapped carefull it should be fine. But if the van isn't big enough - long enough.

I don't know how easy a detolf is to disassemble but imagine it's not that easy and you're still transporting glass. I believe it is made of safety glass so fairly tough. If you do move them in a van I would do that as a separate journey with just the two detolfs (if they both fit lengthwise) wrapped in blankets etc.

If the van isn't long enough to lay them flat on the floor and wedge them in somehow, then you'd probably need them upright and strapped to the side of the van (if it's tall enough!).

I would ask for the internal measurements of the rear of the van before deciding!

It could even be easier to sell them and buy two new ones!
