Default Hamster and cats?

We have a detolf for our dwarf hamster.
We would love to get an older cat from the local rescue.

Currently, we have a half glass (from the shelves) then a half self-made lid with wood with small metal mesh for ventilation.

How secure do people think it is?
She's never escaped.
Do you think a cat would get in?
Could I make it safer?

I want to reduce any risk, so advise would be great
