Making a ram? Ha ha that had me confused for a minute. Felted? For those who don't know who Dougal the dog is - here he is - only those of a certain age will remember Anyway - same coat as the Wensleydale sheep.
I enjoyed that little trip down memory lane
Yes, a felted ram

A bit of news. The lamb is standing up . We thought the problem was his back legs but it is one of his front legs that is a bit wobbly. Anyway he’s on his feet and feeding on his own now. It could have gone either way.
Sorry for lack of photos. It’s been a really busy week. Not just the lambing but supplies etc. We finally had a delivery of food yesterday and a farm shop delivery on the same day - a lot of sorting out and disinfecting things!
This week the current lot of lambs will be vaccinated against Orf (a scabby disease which they don’t need) to prevent them getting it. The rest will be done when lambing is finished.
So far weather has been great (if windy) and no losses so fingers crossed. Now I have my supplies organised I might be able to get out of the house and take some more photos!
Well done little lamb! Good to hear he's making progress & that things are going well with all the lambing, vaccines & everything now.
Hope you can get out to take some photos soon, love to see them

Still haven’t had chance to get more photos haha! About 2/3 way through lambing now and extra things to deal with this year. Obtaining sheep vaccine (standard for lambs) and making sure it is disinfected from possible coronavirus contamination on the outside before putting it in the fridge (handled by a number of people before it arrived here). This was not simple as the vaccine itself can be deactivated by disinfectants so if any kind of solution was on the outside it could get introduced inside when the needle goes through the bung. This took some working out! In the end we disinfected the outer plastic casing (inside that is a small glass vial with rubber bung. To put it in the fridge. Hopefully the inner vial will have been produced before coronavirus started but just in case OH will use gloves and dispose of them afterwards. The applicator/injector was sterilised by boiling it.
So fiddly but today the lambs will be vaccinated. It doesn’t hurt them, it is just a scratch.
The lambs live on the farm happily for about 18 months until they are fully grown before decisions are made as to whether they are kept for breeding or sold to market. Just thought I’d mention that as they do have a good life in open countryside, roaming and eating good hay, and grow up. We don’t sell little baby lambs to market. These will stay with their Mothers for a good few months and then be weaned off them and enjoy wildflower meadows and open fells.
Lovely to hear your lambs stay with their mums. Same here calves stay with mums only a tiny herd, they go off into the woods to give birth B8FC7EE2-95FF-4090-90C7-8FC95A079D4E.jpegI’m going to hijack your lambing with a little calving , this little one had to be helped to suckle which is why they aren’t bothered by my mums presence
Well this thread is sort of fizzling out ha ha. OH is going to take some photos of the lambs tomorrow. I have been "her indoors" too much recently with a lot going on. But all has gone well with the lovely weather so no sick lambs in the house to look after. Today though I was "her outdoors" and had a go at the garden.
Gorgeous! How come the calf is a different colour (is the Dad that colour?)
She is a foster mum, the calf’s mum isn’t able to feed him and this one has plenty of milk for her own calf and this, this little one always has s*** on his head as has to suckle from behind as she pushes him away from the side, she growing to love him though
