Thumbs up Hamster Fostering!

After looking on my local RSPCA site, they were asking for small animal fosters.
I'm not sure on all the details so we contacted them for more info(left a message). But as far as i know they will pay for vet bills and will even provide a cage if you need one, its not a problem for me though as i already have a spare hagen zoozone and a big bin cage.

I was just wondering from anyone that has experience with fostering, how they find it and the pros and cons?
I'd love to know i'm giving them a chance to find a home and for some recover from illness and injury. Even though i know i'd fall in love with every one that i have
I think it'd be a lot more rewarding than just having a pet of my own.

The next thing to do is to sort out a space for them to be kept.
Possibly the loft? but we just need to get a proper loft ladder so i can get up there easily. But theres loads of space, proper flooring and actually the warmest part of the house.

Any help and advice about fostering would be greatly appreciated. I'd love to hear any stories about your fosters too. Doesn't have to be hamsters!

i think the idea is great. and i would have the same problem...ending up with a bunch of hamsters because i wouldnt be able to decide which one should get a new home and which one has to stay there

i just hope that they dont give hamsters to anyone. some people might think that that is a cheap way to get a hamster and then they dont even have to pay for vet bills

i used to have a good network of foster parents and they always fell in love with their charges but when they went to new homes were happy they had a forver home to go to and then always had someone new to look after

yh i can see what you mean annie! That would be so horrible, i'd be furious with people like that.
I'm hoping they ask me lots of questions about experience and that, it'd make me feel much better
I was so surprised how easily my mum agreed to it really. Whenever i ask for a new pet (like all the time lol) she says no straight away. But she rang the next day after i told her and even didn't say no to fostering guinea pigs aswell. The only thing she won't have is rats and she won't let me have animals outside, partly cause of the dog, but i've never been very good with hutch animals and i much prefer them to be inside. I've wanted guinea pigs for a long long time aswell as mice and more hamsters, gerbils etc. So its actually payed off to do loads of research and join forums like this.
