Crazy animal lady
That's what my friends must think I am lol! I was telling them about Waddles, my latest addition, and about this forum. They couldn't seem to believe there was a website specifically dedicated to talking about hamsters. What about everyone else... Do most people you know think you're crazy for the way you treat your little fuzzies??

Re: Crazy animal lady
My parents think I'm nuts and that I spoil my hammies, but I only give them the care that a hamster deserves and treat them how they should be treated!

Re: Crazy animal lady
Exactly! Every pet deserves to be spoiled, not just cats or dogs. It's harder to spoil my axolotl. Everyone else can get exciting treats. He just got a bigger tank :P

Re: Crazy animal lady
You have an axolotl? They are SOOOOO cute. I have only seen this video and this video on them but they seem like really cool pets
My friends at primary school thought I was weird for how much I care about my guinea pigs. People at school STILL think I'm weird for caring and spoiling my piggies and hamster so much, also that I went to a hamster show. I don't really care though because they don't get to own MY pets lol

Re: Crazy animal lady
I do I posted a pic a while back in the other pets section. My mini zoo! They're pretty simple to keep and gorgeous to look at Falkor's always swimming up for food when he sees me. Also I wouldn't care about those people. Everyone has their own opinions, but I just can't get along with people who don't like animals. My dog does not deserve more love and care than any of my other pets.
I don't know if I'd go to a hamster show or not. Only because I don't trust myself not to walk out with an armful of them :P

Re: Crazy animal lady
I'm used to people thinking I'm crazy, I see it as being passionate and that is what I am when it comes to hamsters, especially when I talk about a shopping spree and it's been all hamster stuff and I get 'What are you wasting money on a hamster for?, or 'you took your hamster to the vet, why?' Or the time I had to pawn a couple of pieces of jewellery and sell some CDs/DVDs to pay for a vet bill. To me, it wasn't a big deal but to others they were shocked/speechless.
Ok, so it took a few months to get my jewellery back but my hamsters came first and I've pawned stuff a couple of times since then to do the same thing. They are my priority.

Re: Crazy animal lady
I always love hearing things like that, Thin Lizzy. It really saddens me how some people can see animals like hamsters as lesser creatures and something they can buy on a whim and not treat right. Also makes me sad I can't scoop them all up and bring them home with me. Bake sale to raise funds for an official hamster rescue? :P And by rescue I mean a mansion I can live in with like a million hamster rooms haha.
