Wow Nancy! 28 hams! I have enough trouble with just one! I don't know how you manage but it sure is worth it!!!!

Re: Help! My hamster keeps me awake!
I agree with the Wodent Wheel however I had to put baby oil on mine. I dipped a Q-tip in the baby oil & lubed up the metal rings & the ends of the rod. Has been super quiet since. The baby oil seems to work well with the Silent Spinners too. I love the Wodent Wheel tho!

Re: Help! My hamster keeps me awake!
My hammy is a constant bar chewer!!! She had three cages joined together, with loads of shelves and tunnels and hints to do but nope still hewed the bars! Last night was the best nights sleep I've had in 3 months as she now has a tank!! Bars can't be chewed and the shelves don't vibrate or rattle when she's on her wheel!

Yep. Anytime a hammy I've ever had has drunk from their bottle I've almost jumped out of my skin!!!! Other times have included a hammy kicking/throwing food bowl off the shel (or even just moving it across the shelf!), one hamster who monkey-barred across the top then just jumped down, and one hammy who make as much noise as possible whilst eating, then stare at me (quite creepy when it's not very light in the room!) until I play with them! It's funny how much noise one tiny little animal can make!
Same as a human baby though ... They're so tiny, yet can make so much noise!

Oh, yeah, I forgot about the bar chewing! Though not only is that noisy but it starts to really do your head in after a while lol

Re: Help! My hamster keeps me awake!
I find the sound of my hamster playing, drinking or whatever quite soothing, but I can't sleep if it's too quiet anyway apart from when he bar chews!

I know what you mean. You get used to it after a while. I remember my very first hamster, Harry. To begin with he kept me awake at night and if it got to me too much I'd put his cage in my sister's room, as she could sleep through anything! Then I got used to it. But when he died I couldn't sleep as I missed all the noise, and it was almost like I was in an unfamiliar place!

Re: Help! My hamster keeps me awake!
I share my uni room with my three hammies so I can't move them anywhere else. I recommend spark plug earplugs (Amazon). I sleep like a baby when I wear them and my hammies can play and fun to their hearts content!
Also if it's a squeaky wheel then try putting cooking oil on the mechanism. Hamlets wheel is almost silent now!

Re: Help! My hamster keeps me awake!
I used to never have hamsters in my room, what with noisy wheels and bar chewers. Although I've had my new hamster in my room for the past week, and he's being pretty good so far.
