Tattoo Designing! Anyone artistic?

I am *definitely* no artist but this sort of thing . It's a bit crappy but I just sketched it quickly while I was having my lunch. I can't see that the ink would bleed into the letters. I would also have your existing tattoo gone over at the same time so it all looks fresh and one tattoo. Even if it doesn't look like it's faded much, it will next to fresh ink.

Wow velma that is gorgeous, i love it! Thats better than anything i have drawn! I really really like that, although i might alter the vines slightly but that really is brilliant. Im going to try copying it and try a few slight alterations to see what works best but that is the first design in nearly a year that ive looked at and thought i LOVE it! Lol

Also does going over an old tatto not REALLY hurt, like way more than the 1st time?

My anchor on my ankle didn't. I mean not more than first time round. And I'm not one of those people that says tattooing doesn't hurt - yeah it does! I had it redone after a year. Should have been a couple of months but I never got round to it! The tattooist that did mine did it deliberately lightly with a plan to re-ink if necessary as inside of ankle can bleed into the capillaries if you're too heavy handed, apparently.

I just thought doing a doodle might give you a basis to work from. Then you have something to play with. Any tattoo artist you see isn't expecting you to have a perfect image for them to copy straight off but sketches give them an idea of what you do or don't like so they can create something for you.

Or instead of vines you could have a tree & branches going behind the names. sort of a family tree vibe.

Thankyou, that really is brilliant and has helped me to visualise it much better. Youve pretty much hit the nail on the head with it. Its one of those that you just know when you see it. And i had never thought of vines before, just swirls and stars etc. Im feeling pretty excited right now

Glad I've helped! I love tattoos but I hate seeing badly done ones. I'm all about the research,me! It's such a cliche I know but you are stuck with them so there really is no rush to get it done straight away, it's so important to see someone good & do your homework. Also. I know money isn't infinite & tattoos can be expensive but if the right artist charges more than you can afford at that time, save up. Don't go to someone cheap because they are cheap just to get it done that day. I sound like a strict auntie, I know but you'll thank me for me it!

Haha i totally agree with you. The first tattoo was actually pretty expensive compared to other places i looked at but i just wanted it done there and then. There are flaws with it that will hopefully get rectified this time round. Thats why ive took so long to get it done because i hadnt seen what i wanted and i wanted to make sure i got it right this time. Im going to re-sketch what you have done tonight, tweak it about till i think im happy then have a good look for a decent tattooist and take it to them to make any alterations needed. it will probably be a couple of months before i get it done because its finding the time when my partner isnt working and can watch the kids. How long would you estimate for it to take to tattoo something like this?

It depends on the artist doing it. Half an hour to an hour? A lot of good artists get booked up though so book in advance as there may be a waiting list. But maybe find some time when you are child free to go round to check out studios as a lot won't allow children in the studio.
