Lol it so wasnt funny. I try hiding my fear of spiders from the kids but this time i REALLY couldnt help but scream. I mean theres this huge giant spider thats on my shoulder. I jump and scream and flick it on the floor. I was dripping wet from the shower with only a towel round me, the spiders scurrying around the landing, im prancing about not wanting it to come near my bare feet, the kids are just stood there like what ARE you doing mum?!

And no my other half doesnt even know i used his shorts

Not just that, when i was younger and had just had a bath, there was a spider crawling up my towel that was wrapped round me. It was only small but since then i always shake my towel and inspect it before using it, i dont know how this spider got on me, i can only guess i got lazy in the 'checking towel after shower' routine and the spider was just there waiting for me

I think they know if you have phobias against them. It does seem they just suddenly appear.

Yes that must be it

There's been quite a few around lately. I read somewhere that breeding season for them is around this time of year so males are out searching for females.

The other week at night i went downstairs to the kitchen (no lights on and bare feet) then my other half came down and turned the light on. Right where i had been stood was a dead spider. We guessed i must have stood on it without realising, subconsciously thinking it was the kids mess (they seem to enjoy scattering raisins)

I hate spiders so much. Im getting better though. A few years ago i couldnt even bring myself to go near one to kill it. I blame my mum! Lol. I hope i dont teach the boys to be scared of them, i know most of them are really harmless.

My mother was trrified of spiders, but that did not affect us kids. We used to kill them if they were in the house.

I htink a survey was done many years ago that most people have a phobia against two creatures, mice and spiders. Those who hate spiders were ok with mice and those who hate mice love spiders. I think I was a teen at the time. Some dont like both and some like both.

I have had mice and gerbils as pets but they are not as cute as hams. I have never and will never had a rat. I looked after a mates rat once, but would not own my own. I could hold it and feed it, but the rat bit my mate every time he put his hand in the cage. He had to wear thick motorbike gloves just to put the food bowl in the cage.

Yuck. Blah. Ugh.

IAN IF YOUR STORY IS ABOUT SPIDERS, PUT THAT IN THE TITLE. I thought this was a thread about a hamster with goosebumps. I thought, "Oh how cute," clicked but it's a NOPE thread. A big fat NOPE, NOPE, NOPE thread.

Funny spider stories - fine, although I don't think humor and spiders go hand in leg in leg in leg in leg in leg in leg in leg in fuzzy, horrible leg.

My older daughter is terrified of spiders, I can't imagine where she would have picked up such an irrational fear. One morning she screamed from the bathroom in such a horrifying way that we had people calling from upstairs making sure no one was dying.

The door closes with a skeleton key and she was trying to get out but there was a tarantula the size of a grapefruit on the door. (the spider gets bigger with every retelling) We couldn't do anything because the window is minuscule and one story up. She keeps reminding me that I was telling her to throw a towel over it and she was wailing, "I don't want to make it mad."

It took almost an hour to get her to turn the key - by then I had lost out on the best mother awards for the next ten years because I had used every bad word that I know, but she's an adult so I'm pretty sure she knew MOST of them already. And then we still had the puppy sized arachnid on the door to get rid of. Welcome to Lebanon.

Sorry for not putting spider in title. made you look though. lol.

They do seem to get bigger the more the story is told. lol.

I am glad I live in UK. No poisonous ones about. Just some that will bite and leave a nasty mark for a log time.

They're still pretty darn big in the uk though, are there any countries that DONT have spiders? Maybe we'll emigrate.

I dont mind mice couldnt keep them as pets though, the long tails make me shudder

A land without spiders. There are two, but they are very very cold.
