Exclamation Earthquake!!!

Ok, it wasn't that bad; things didn't fall off shelves and there was no damage whatsoever, but it was an earthquake big enough and near enough that we could feel and hear it! I thought at first it was a really long, loud roll of thunder. Thing is, thunder is really rare here. Then a few minutes after it happened we got a call from a friend to tell us it had been an earthquake. Right off the coast of the downtown area too and not very deep! It was a 3.2 on the Richter if anyone's interested. The hamsters don't seem to have been bothered by it

I've been known to sleep through tremors. But in the U.K we don't get many earthquakes.

Well, my cat did get up and leave the room, but she's been sleeping all day so it may not have had anything to do with tremors and everything to do with the call of nature The last tremor I remember feeling did wake me out of a sound sleep at about 3 in the morning. That one was even bigger and I woke with the feeling that I was being shaken side to side!

Strangely enough I've had this in my head on and off today...

I am glad there was no damage or anything though

I went in an earthquake simulator....it separated water on you which was surprising because I didn't know it was coming! It was fun though. It sorta shook me up but the boys(Coleman and Jack my cousins, 7&9, my brother Sam, 9) loved it and wanted to go again!

I didn't even know there was such a thing as an earthquake simulator! That's really neat

I wonder if this explains Suri's behaviour yesterday? She was completely freaked out by something and was flinging herself backwards into the sides of her cage with such force I thought she was going to hurt herself. I just assumed she'd finally smelled the new hammy in the house but he'd been here for a few days already and today she's back to normal. Now I'm wondering if it was the earthquake that unsettled her! Or maybe she's sensing the impending "Big One"

Animals can be so much more aware of natural occurrences than we are, as I'm sure we all know but BG, let's hope that Suri isn't sensing anything like "the big one" and it was just that she was a little unsettled by the recent event.

Kyrilliondaemon, I'd not seen that before. I now have an image of all hammies bouncing around with springs attached to their feet, whenever there's a tremor or quake.

I'm certainly glad that there wasn't any damage, BG and that Suri has settled down again.
