Default I am so upset!

I've thrown out my back trying to catch this little thing. This afternoon I was waiting for the mailman with the front door open. As I was sitting there, out of the corner of my eye, I saw something move fast. I turned my head and was amazed. I didn't have my glasses on, so I couldn't be sure whether it was a gecko or a chameleon. It is at least 5-7 inches long. When I moved to get up to grab something to try to catch it, it took off under my keyboard underneath my knitting basket which sits under the keyboard. If this little thing ran all the way to the wall, there is a bookcase he could have gone behind. If he continued along the wall while I was trying to get things out of the way, he very well may have wound up under my couch. There is no way at all that i can move the couch. I've already been tossing a 50 pound bag of sand and a 35 pound bag of potting soil that was in my way while I was trying to see where he went. I wouldn't want it to die. I have a 5 gallon aquarium with a mesh top with clips, so if I can find it, I can give it a home. Who finds little lizards in Brooklyn, for Pete's sake? What substrate does it need, what would I feed it. How long can it live without food and water in a house? I'm really hoping Yoda doesn't bother it if it comes out. I really wish I could find it. Will it walk out in the open maybe? I'm not moving so fast now and I can't figure out how to trap it. This is going to upset me all night

I was jumping to conclusions in the beginning thinking oh no, not the hamster out the door!

My cat brought a lizard in the house last year and it came out of hiding the next day (from under the couch) and I caught it in the open. Hopefully that will be the case for you too. Good luck! Have something ready to trap it.

Oh my goodness! Most likely it eats insects but water might be an issue. Can you just put a dish down for it so it can hydrate? Maybe also put a lamp out where it can come out to warm itself. That may be your best bet to lure it out

I don't know much about Gecko's or lizards, although when I lived in Arizona, my yard had quite a few Gecko's. They eat insects. Maybe try an "hammie" trap? books stacked low, only a few steps, with maybe fruit? I'm not sure they eat fruit, but don't think you have insects in your house. LOL
The gecko's in AZ, made an like a "clicking" type sound, at times. Can you hear any sounds, like this? Don't worry, it will come out, and most likely find it's way back outside somehow, they can squeeze through tiny places. I hope it comes out, and finds it way back to it's gecko home

PS Don't break your back over trying to move your couch.
