Default Curly Hair Styles/Products

After years of abusing my hair with straighteners, i've finally decided to embrace my curls.

I'm not going to lie, i've always hated having curly hair, but the straighteners have killed my hair and I just don't have time to do it anymore.

So, all you curly-haired hamster folk, how do you manage your curly hair? What hair styles do you do? I've always found my hair so difficult to style with it being curly. My hair is just over shoulder length when curly but has a tendancy to frizz when it dries

I'm also on the lookout for a good range of hair products to use on curly hair. Shampoo, conditioner, leave in conditioner, anti-frizz etc. I normally just use whatever is on offer so i've no idea what brands are good and whats not

Isn't it weird that curly-haired people straighten their hair and straight-haired people curl their hair? Lol.

Sorry I'm no help (I have wavy hair)!

I'm in the same boat and trying to embrace the curls but the top layer tends to go frizzy. So many mouses etc... make it go all crunchy and blurgh. Serums are your best bet. A few drops of Aveda Dry Remedy Oil (not too much or it goes greasy) can help. Bit expensive at £17 though :/

I've been straightening it that long I'm still figuring out which shampoos and conditioners are best. Probably Tresemme and Garnier - Herbal Essances doesn't do much for curls I find :/

I wish I had curly hair! Have you ever thought about going, low-poo or no-poo (shampoo that is)? I read a book awhile back called curly girl to try and bring out my meager wave curls. They were all about using very little or no shampoo and conditioner instead, always just using your fingers to comb your hair instead of a brush, and using the right curl shaping gels. They had their own brand of course... I don't know about brands of hair products, but you could try the no brush, less soap, more conditioner, and hair gel route. See if it holds down the frizz.

£17?! Blimey!! I have heard good things about Tresemme though. From what I've googled I need a nourishing shampoo/conditioner for dry/curly hair as the moisturiser in it will help reduce frizz. My day off tomorrow so I may go shopping and see what I can find

Oh god I can't do no shampoo, my hair gets quite greasy after a couple of days. Once it's curly I avoid using a brush as all it does is separate the curls and frizz it out. I may have a google about the low-poo though, it sounds rather interesting

How wonderful embracing your curls. I have very curly hair. Use herbal essence shampoo and conditioners, use Moroccan oil and light hair serum to control and define. A good haircut is a must to keep shape and keep it looking good. Good luck and enjoy

I find John Frieda's stuff really good, their 'Frizz-a Ease' range is great, especially the Miraculous Recovery creme mask! That stuff is awesome, dollop a bit on your hair after rinsing the shampoo and conditioner out, leave a couple of mins then wash out. Its really good if you straighten your hair as it makes it feel soft and silky like new again and really tames the frizz.
