Default Sorta, Maybe, Kind of...Impulse Buy!

So someone was selling feeder tadpoles... I kinda said I'd take them.

Not as feeders, obviously. You know how I was about to order crabs? That'll have to go on hold. The tads will reside in the mini-pond, as I'm calling it, until they're frogs. Then I'll move them to a tank and buy my crabs for the mini-pond Anyway, I have no idea what they'll be, but I'm picking them up in a few days so I'll keep you updated!

There will be, 2-7(he was very specific, lol, not!), and they'll be frogs of some sort, maybe different kinds(again, very specific, not!).

Kind of hoping they're all the same kind so I might be able to house them together, but if they're not I'll be okay. I'm just glad they won't end up in an animal's mouth! Well, actually it's not really that, it's the abuse they would probably get before being fed to the predator.

Ok, enough sad talk. They're safe now! Hopefully they'll be okay 'till Wednesday when I get the little guys. I saw the one pic of one of them, staring up at me with her little eyes....that's all it took! Haha.

I haven't had frogs in forever...and the last ones I had were aquatic. I remember recusing 50+ tads from our neighbour's pool once...I don't remember much though.

I don't know much about them, but I do know they'll be wonderful little froggies! xxx

Sounds amazing!! I had a tank full of tadpoles when I was about 16. We released about 50 of them into the wild once they were frogs (we found the spawn in a drying-up pond in a field, so they were native) and I hate to think what we did to the eco system with the introduction of that many frogs at once.

Enjoy

I remember when I was 8 or so I brought tree-frog tadpoles from Florida, then totally freaked when I got them home and let the 3 tads go. I'm sure it didn't make that big of an impact on the eco system, but I always felt bad about it!

So I asked the guy what they were (like what type of frog) and he said either Gray Treefrogs, Green Treefrogs, or two other species that he didn't know the names of. Meh. Oh well, like I said hopefully I'll be able to figure out what they are and give them a good home.

What do you feed tadpoles? A nursery I used to work at would get them every year and they would always eat each other or just die. That said they kept them in a bucket out in the playground, so I always wondered if it was too much sun or dirty stale water...

Good question. I heard you feed them fish food and boiled lettuce. I also saw some "Tadpole Food" at the petstore so I'll try that too. The last ones I had ate about anything you'd give them, I mostly remember feeding them turtle pellets, lol.

I'd love to know what they were so I could prepare! Been googling "Tadpole Care" and have joined multiple frog forums, but I guess I'll just have to wait and see what happens. *happy sigh*
