So I was thinking if how to describe the utter shock if finding babies in the nest you didn't know we're coming! My story first
So I was doing the usual, feeding and watering the hams. On my last tank I put in the food, and began pouring the water when I saw something out if the corner of my eye. Two round, pink babies. They were both runt size; literally the size of a jelly bean. My heart stopped.
The worst part was, I didn't know who was the mom and who was the dad.
So I took out one at random, thank God he was the dad. I set up an emergency tank for him, and after freaking out, I began searching the common defects of inbred babies, as the parents were sibs.
The smallest baby died, but the older grew up and in in her new home
Then I freaked out about the mom. She had been housed with her brother her whole life; she was pregnant as soon as she could be
I felt horrible for her. She didn't even get supplements, since she was a "boy" at the time.
I have to admit, that after I realised mom and baby were fine, I had a great two weeks watching her grow!
That was a while ago, but I want to hear your stories!
So, Share!
