Why
Why are people so horrible? People laughing, and being horrible, because I'm 26 and got a hamster.
Yeah I know I'm not a normal 26 year old, I don't go clubbing and I don't drink. I enjoy being at home with a cup of tea, and cuddled up reading or watching tv.
But I'm a carrying loving person. What is so wrong with that.
Fed up with people being horrible

Re: Why
I was 42 when we got my first hamster - people are stupid, and they have no idea how fabulous hamsters (and hamster people) are!

Re: Why
Meh, I'm 26 and have a hamster, so what? Not that anyone has ever said anything about it....
(are we still supposed to go clubbing at 26? Well darn it, I didn't like doing it at uni and I certainly wont be doing it now. Tea, munchies and hammie is all I need in an evening. Especially when one has to go to work in the morning!!)

Re: Why
I am 33 with two little kids and have hamsters (for me and not for my kids) and I got one of my hamsters a week and half after my 2nd baby was born. I know people think I am weird and don't get it. I just can't care about what they think!!!

Re: Why
I try not to let them get to me. But they do. Tonight I just sat and cried.
I love Daisy and talk to her like she a baby. She's my baby. People don't get it.
They laughed because I put money in a jar, (daisy jar) if she never needs vets I got he money in the jar. They said if she needed vets I should just stand on her and kill her and buy a new one.
Why are people horrible to me and about daisy?

Re: Why
Char they sound horrible. Its lovely that you have a daisy jar. Me too a cuppa and the tele any day! I think its very often other people's own insecurities and fear that make them behave so badly. Well done for being you. x

Re: Why
I'm a 27 guy and have 2 hamsters, my whole family know I have them, so because we're older we shouldn't have them? That's all thanks to the stupid pet shops marketing them to kids.
There is not a law that says you must be a child to own a hamster. These people who poke fun at you are just bullies, I know it's difficult but just ignore them. If anyone says anything to me about my hamsters I just say so what, I like them they are cute and if I want to have them i will. I do not care how old I am.
Chin up!

Re: Why
Big hugs to you. Just take pride in the fact that you're a caring person who is changing another creatures life for the better! The only contribution they'll ever make is vomiting in the gutter after pointless nights out binge drinking. They have no purpose in life and will soon realise that fact once they 'grow up'.
Generally people don't upset me, the only time I become upset is when a guy seems to walk away because of my dedication to animals, even when we have so much more in common. I have many of my own animals and the rescue to think about. They look down upon me as if I'm a worse prospect than a single mother with 5 kids (I've had that thrown at me before) Stuff 'em I say!

Re: Why
Aww some people just don't understand I'm exactly like you and have never liked going out clubbing and would rather just stay in with a cuppa or do one of my hobbies. I'm nearly 30 and me and my hubby have 4 hammies who we both talk to, and have photos of them around the house because they are part of our family- if people think that's weird, I don't really care!
