Babe tell them talk to the paw!! We love animals or alive being and are happier than others who cares only themselves. They are ignorant and don't see beyond their little world which is very limited one! I have 2 dogs 1 hamster and 1 husband love them equally!!!

And Hun your little Daisy is cutie!!

Ahah that is what I initially guessed, but then I didn't think there could possibly be that many people fond of sitting down with tea whenever they watch television or have "me-time." But I forgot this was the British that I was thinking about... and you guys definitely do your tea right. Although when I lived in Oxford no one seemed to understand why I needed cream for my coffee.... you guys could work on that

I think "cuppa" for "cup of tea" is brilliant and I'm going to help it blow up here in California. Might have to replace the longform with "cup of Red Bull" or "cup of Starbucks" though for our folk.
LOL!!! Well when I say i have cuppa usually either cappagino or coffe for me I very rare have tea unless im in someone else house Ive gone weird since having my first child lol!

oh before I forget....my oh is planning to have tropical fishes for whatever for but I know he like fishes just as much I love hamsters.

Dont let people get you down feel sorry for them that they cant just enjoy the simple things in life and have the love of a pet. Im 23 nearly 24 I love my hamsters I don't go out drinking I don't drink at all tbh I prefer to stay in also, honestly don't bother about anyone else if they are actually being mean about you then they clearly have insecurities in their own life they need to sort out! xxx

Me too my cuppa is coffee although in all honesty there is an occasional glass of wine of an evening! Wild horses couldn't drag me to a club though!

Well, anyone who gives gems of advice such as stamp on your hamster should they become ill, isn't the sort of person I'd take any opinion from seriously.

You are caring for an animal, you have taken the responsibility to ensure you have the funds to care for that animal should some thing happen, you are doing something you like to do, and you are doing it right, that is all that matters.

I am 37 and keep, breed and show hamsters, I got my first pair when I was 33. I am completely unfazed by what anyone may think of that, and not in the least bit interested either if it isn't positive.

I suspect the person/people upsetting you are missing something fullfilling and positive in their lives, those that feel the need to impact negatively on others often do.

I agree with all of what Poms said, but mainly this point. However small the animal is, that is animal cruelty. I won't even kill spiders (or let other people kill them on my behalf) and I am terrified of them, so the thought that someone could say that with regards to a hamster...

And anyway, they don't need to understand your love of hamsters to understand that you love them. My boyfriend thinks I am a mad animal lady and doesn't understand why I am obsessed with animals, but he does understand that I am, that they are very special to me, and he respects that.

Basically, some people suck. Try and find the ones that don't, and keep them in your life

Screw 'em, Char.

I'm 29 and I have 3 hamsters... I didn't even get my first one until I was 27. Initially I chose hamsters because I'm not actually supposed to have pets where I am living, but they are easy to have on the down low. I just knew I needed an animal in my life. (Granted- it was also a suggestion from a therapist!)

But anyway... Try not to let it get to you. There's never any shame in giving part of yourself to another living thing. People are just jealous that you love your animals instead of them.

Seriously, the sad truth is that there are a lot of people who simply don't get the bonds people make with animals. I'm 21, and I'm expected to go out to clubs and such on friday nights, have loads of fb albums with drunk friends etc, but the reality is I don't drink at all and my OH and I are perfectly happy with our mini zoo and that's where our money goes. I get judged by my female friends all the time (my guy friends think they're cool lmao plus it means my place is the main hang out to avoid clubs), but I'm learning to just not even care. You'll get to that place too, where the people that matter understand you and the others don't count. As the quote says "those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind"
