i was just commenting on my store, theo. it might be different elsewhere, but my store won't employ anyone over 18 it seems. all new staff seem to be clueless and i think they do that on purpose so they won't challenge what they are taught.

on reflection i'm glad i didn't get it as i couldn't just allow hams to be sold in starter cages and female chinese sold together etc. and i wouldn't wana give a ham to most of the people you see buying one!

i'd most likely have been sacked anyway

Oh Theo, I keep missing posts, my computer doesn't flag them up as new.
Congratulations - I think it is absolutely brilliant that you will be working in the marine dept. Good on the store to choose someone with lots of experience in keeping marines - I am sure you will be a great asset to them!

I have met the marine installation crew (well some of them) and they are top blokes I did the marine course for PAH which was a week at a college and *ahem* I got top marks out of my class...... sorry just had to drop that in LOL

Which store are you? York? I was going to go to the gateshead one but decided not to - I am aquatics champ in my store you see.

And thats one of the reasons i also went for a job - to show them how its done!!!!

Yeah, the York store. As they haven't started on the mezzanine flooring yet, I will be hands on in the other departments until they are properly up and running. The manager is phoning me next week with my hours

The only college that I know of with the facilities to do any major aquatics training as the one I'm at, which is down in Winchester (Sparsholt).. I don't mean to bost, but, we've got a £2 million aquatics centre to play with, and the best in the business tutor wise..

I was amazed, after reading so many different forums all complaining about Pets at Home's staff, that I met so many people who had started as school leavers and have been there for 10 years It's testament to them that the majority of staff DO care passionately about the animals in their care. When I had my first Chinese hams from my local store, and they both died within a week, the manager and another member of staff talked to me while I was stood there sobbing in the middle of their fish department I have nothing but positive things to say about my local store

On a side-note LMDH, I hope they have the racing on while I'm down there
