people have given advice it has been ignored and now two hams are hurt
My parent's wanted it, my dad's stubborn and I couldn't stop him. Also, the hamsters are getting along so far and my dad wants to sell the babies...

Edit: I'm half positive that they're compatible, they haven't attacked each other in a while, and they're sleeping together in the sleeping hut. The (probably) male hamster lost a paw (front paw) before we bought him, I didn't hear the story since I wasn't at the pet story

You may have babies on the way already, but this really isn't ideal at all. As has been said there were risks involved, and you have had both hamsters stressed and aggressive with Vanilla injured. I am wondering though if the other hamster is a female, as males don't often attack females, they're more interested in breeding, and tend to be submissive on meeting.

Do you know the background of either hamster? Obviously the new addition you don't, but I didn't know whether Vanilla had come from a reputable breeder? If there are babies there could possibly be all sorts of genetic issues, not always obvious to the eye either. Cloud died recently, and I'm assuming she was Vanilla's sister, she would have only been about four months I believe? It may have been a genetic issue, down to poor breeding, it really is better not to continue lines you know nothing about health wise, especially in Campbells/Russian as they are prone to all sorts of health issues when poorly bred.

If Vanilla is pregnant are you prepared? Do you know what to feed her, do you have another cage to put your new ham into? Do you know what sort of behavior to look out for, how to set up her cage so it's safe for the babies? Have you a good small animal vet you are registered with in case there are any problems with the birth? Are you ready in case Vanilla culls the pups, won't raise them, they are born with problems? Do you have good homes ready with people you trust to care for them properly?

There is an awful lot to consider when breeding and the health of the hamster is number on on that list. I think the first thing you need to do is to ascertain whether your new hamster is male or female (we can help you), and if he is male get him into a new cage right away. As I say from what you said about the aggression there is a good chance she is female, but it's not guaranteed.

It may very well be male even if it did attack the female. When I have introduced male and female sometimes the boys do fight first and chase the other one away, they can hurt one another just as bad or even kill.

The health issues have been brought up. Please show this thread to your parents so they can understand that it is a very silly idea

even beyond that, if you can't sell babies, are you ready to house up to 10 seperately? where did you buy the male? I'm guessing since your dad won't take advice it's a pet store ham. So you're not improving the species. Just making more.

Thanks for giving me another reason to not have another hamster to tell my parents. I never really wanted another hamster, my parents always want to replace another pet right away >_>. If she's already pregnant, my parents will just try to sell the babies, if they can't, I'm not sure what my parents will do, if she gets sick, I'll try to beg my parents to bring her to the vet, if they won't, I'll notify you guys and I'll need help trying to get my parents to crack
