bit strange ...
I've been having lots of dreams recently about dead or dying hamsters ... It started a couple of years back and it's usually the same dream though I did have one different one last night. I actually have a weird fear of dead animals - all my last hamsters I put in another room when they were nearing the end because I had a fear of them dying in my bedroom. Anyway it's starting to freak me out as now I'm constantly checking on Belle to check that she's still alive ... Am I going completely nuts??!

You're not nuts... dreaming about them just means you care.
All life is fragile, it's totally normal to be concerned about loved ones, whether they are furry or not.

Re: bit strange ...
Having hamster dreams is normal. I used to have repetitive dreams that my hamster had babies and i couldnt rehome them.

Re: bit strange ...
I've had dreams about my hammies passing away. They always freak me out and a few times I've hopped out of bed immediately to check on them... Only to have them look at me like "What is the matter with you?"

Exactly!
I didn't so much as dream about Cal dying, but I used to have terrible dreams that almost seemed real in which she would be sitting on my bed and then slide down the back. I would then half-wake up and start tearing my room apart, looking for her, always unable to find her. Eventually I would fully wake up and realise she was downstairs the whole time, but that didn't stop me from running to check. I did that a total of three times, tearing my room apart each time. It was pretty horrible.

Re: bit strange ...
ah this reminded me of a horrible dream i had some time ago. I dreamt that i had shelves upon shelves of cages with all sorts of rodents in and remember thinking, i have to clean them / feed them / get them out etc but every cage i opened had a dying / dead rat or whatever in it, and then i’d rush to the next cage to find the same and remember frantically trying to save the ones that were still alive. I woke up with an awful feeling in my stomach, it was awful and i felt pretty crappy about it all day.... it felt so real at the time, my byofriend said he could hear me crying in my sleep
so no you’re not going nuts, i think its normal to have a random dream occasionally

Re: bit strange ...
I used to dream that the RSPCA were checking up on me because a vicious neighbour would call them out telling them lies about me not feeding and watering them. I became paranoid about cage sizes and I used to worry that I was not looking after them properly. It was awful
